A little dusty. A little cold. A little out of breath. Very, very worth it. P.S. This one has a second chapter… coming next week ❤️ #Acatenango #GuatemalaTravel #VolcanDeFuego #NomaBasecamp #AdventureTravel

I’d been having nightmares about climbing one of the most active volcanoes in the world for weeks. 🌋🌋 24 hours at 3,900m, brutal incline, two volcanoes, sleeping in a tent at the top of one of them with altitude sickness and thin air. But then you get to the top, and Fuego is erupting every 15 minutes with actual lava flying into the sky and the ground shaking with the force. Equal parts terrifying, exhausting and INCREDIBLE. The kind of experience that makes you realise you’re capable of a lot more than you give yourself credit for. 🇬🇹❤️‍🔥 📍 Volcán Acatenango + Volcán de Fuego Thanks @nomabasecamp

Let our guides lead you through one of Guatemala’s most incredible volcano tours. They read the mountain, they know fuego’s mood before you do. A team of local mountain guides who live this landscape. mountain rescuers among them. a paramedic. a nurse. people who know every trail, every detail that makes this adventure unforgettable. If you’ve experienced them, you already know. if not, come feel the difference! Send us a DM to book your Acatenango experience. 📸 @ivancastroguatemala #VolcanoHiking #AdventureTravel #CentralAmerica #Guatemala #Acatenango #HikingAdventure #LuxuryCamping #Glamping #BucketListTravel #volcandefuego #mountainguide #travelcommunity

There’s something about the volcano that no matter how many times I come back, I’ll never fully be able to put into words. The hike keeps getting more popular, and as a local, that makes me genuinely happy. It means more opportunities, more connection, and it’s beautiful to see people from all over the world come here to experience it. But every time I go, I notice a few things that matter, little reminders that can make a big difference in how this place is experienced and respected: 1. Be kind to your guides. This hike is not easy, and being up there isn’t the most comfortable either. They go above and beyond to give you the best experience possible. Many of them do this hike up to 4 times a week, and still show up with heart every single time. 2. Prepare yourself. It’s a challenging hike, and while it’s absolutely worth it, altitude and weather can make it tougher than expected. A little preparation goes a long way. 3. The price isn’t about luxury, it reflects everything happening behind the scenes. From transportation to the effort of the guides, providing a service at 3,900 meters is no small thing. 4. Take your trash with you. The volcano receives thousands of visitors every day, the least we can do is help keep it clean. If you keep these in mind, I promise this will be one of the most incredible experiences of your life. 🤝🏽🤍

Spent two nights camping on the side of a volcano watching some of the craziest eruptions of El Fuego. Spent most of the time outside the tent with the camera ready, trying to time and capture each eruption. El Fuego is one of the world’s most active volcanoes, going off every 15–20 minutes, so it was just a constant cycle of waiting and capturing. We also made the push up to the top of Fuego itself, which was one of the hardest hikes I’ve done in a while. Thanks to @nomabasecamp for the incredible experience.

Moving postcards from that one time we hiked Acatenango volcano and watched Fuego put on a show 🔥🌋🇬🇹 This is definitely one of the most unique hikes I have ever done 🤯 It is not everyday that you have the chance to hike a volcano and watch another one erupting every 15-20 minutes 🙌 Thank you @nomabasecamp for having us 🙏
