Please join us this Saturday, November 2nd, for Palestine Cinema Days Around the World! The screening is free and will be located at Grandview Heights Public Library in the Meeting Room. The screening will begin with two shorts, “Ma’loul Celebrates its Destruction” and “Resistance, Why?” at 1 pm. Before the feature, “Little Palestine, Diary of a Siege,” we will have a short intermission at 2:30 pm. Everyone is welcome.

choreography and memory in Black cinema: our first nomadic in-person workshop of the year with none other than @regards.noirs in Montréal 🌐
we parsed through defining memory, identifying artifacts of memory in literature through Toni Morrison, Edouard Glissant, and manifestos -- then diving into studying how filmmakers like Safi Faye, Ousmane Sembéne, Rhea Storr, Garrett Bradley, and Leilah Weinraub have choreographed memory artifacts in their films
We each mapped out our own visual choreography of archival memory tools for our film or performance pieces 📝
experimental in process-making, hoping we can make it out to Montréal again 📽

this 44 page report includes findings on pivotal work that documentary leaders in curation, programming, and exhibition are experimenting & deepening to highlight unheard voices like @comfreyfilms and @werepjustice and including spotlight organizations like @luminaltheater , @sfurbanfilmfest , @cinesolar and more

cinéSPEAK x NO EVIL EYE CINEMA present: Black Femininity as the ‘Monstrousness’ Workshop
NO EVIL EYE CINEMA @noevileyecinema leads an engaging workshop where participants interact with fellow cinephiles and conceive of ways to critique and orient ourselves around the 7 tropes of female monstrosity in horror film history. We will dive deeper into Barbara Creed’s book The Monstrous-Feminine: Film, Feminism, Psychoanalysis by exploring the range of patriarchal obstacles that alter the perceived humanity of three Black female characters in Blaxpoitation films.
This workshop includes a presentation, short film screening, workshop participant activity, group discussion, and share-out.
