Con gioia ti invitiamo Lunedì 15 dicembre, alle 18:45, a una serata di presentazione del nostro libro “Il respiro di Banaras” e di pratica yoga guidata da Jacopo. Con Jacopo ci siamo conosciuti nel 2020 poco prima del lockdown indiano, giorni di eccezionale fervore e confusione: lui stava per rientrare in Italia e noi per rimanere bloccati e “imprigionati” a Varanasi per quasi due mesi. Quest’incontro è anche un ritrovarsi: un riflettere anche partendo da quello che abbiamo condiviso in quei giorni.
Noi (ricercatori, antropologi etnografi) presenteremo la nostra opera “Il respiro di Banaras”: un viaggio fra India e Occidente, ricerca e presenza, corpi ed emozioni, la meraviglia e l’inatteso. Una narrazione etnografica e poetica, gli insegnamenti di Dharma ricevuti dialogano con la riflessione antropologica: un testo che nasce da un percorso imprevisto, tra meraviglia e turbamento emergeranno inconsueti spazi di libertà.
A seguire Jacopo, fondatore del Progetto Ananta, condurrà una pratica integrata di yoga e meditazione secondo l’approccio e la tradizione Himalayana. Hari Om

For many centuries, the sacred banks of the river Ganga have been places of penance, prayer and meditation for Indian sages. Their practices are believed to have opened a portal of connection between the earthly and divine dimensions, which even today is a centre of gravity for caravans of pilgrims and solitary spiritual seekers who come from all over to the foothills of the Himalayan chain in the Uttarakhand region, from where the Ganga begins its long journey.
Here, ‘the mysterious becomes meaningful, the magical becomes mundane, the unknown becomes recognisable and what was unattainable is seen as ever-present. Truth is validated in the mind and faith transforms it into reality’.
Over the past weeks, I have travelled many kilometres in these lands, getting to know the local families, people of extreme generosity and extraordinary physical strength, and exploring nature, which is impressive here in all its forms. I thank all the circumstances and people I met on the journey for allowing me to live this immense experience.

The sweetie Amma has been my guru for the last week in Chennai: little almost zero verbal communication, big vibes and constant-playing devotional music from an old mp3 stereo player. Each morning I came visiting her mini temple lost in the dreadful traffic of the city, she staying there since ages, grounded to the power of Amman, one of the Shakti’s avatar related to medicine and fertility in south of India. Many devotees passed by for blessing, she whispered silent formulas to the shrine, sprinkled holy water into their faces and bodies, balanced the intuitive energy by sawing their foreheads with ash and red turmeric, and finally returned her gaze to lose herself in the frenetic flowing of the world, her expression fixed at the moment of someone about to sneeze. What a teaching!
That gentle “masquerade party” celebrating grief, rage, violence, death and evil forces, starting with lights and colours and ending in the crematorium of a rubbish dump amidst exorcising breakdowns. OM KRIM KALI!
