I recently posted two new videos on my YouTube channel. One is an in-depth review of Gregory Halpern’s latest photobook, King, Queen, Knave (his best so far in my opinion), and the other is a short companion video sharing some lessons on creating long term bodies of work that I found in the stories behind the making of his King, Queen, Knave & ZZYZX projects. I hope you enjoy them, I’d love to hear what you think! Links in bio

Last day to support the crowdfunding campaign for my new book, @_sam_gulliver_ ’s Three Rings, which documents the culture of three dirt racetracks in Western Michigan. We’reĀ 85% of the way to our goal, and will be going to press next week!šŸ“šIf we’re able toĀ reach our goal by the end of the year, we’re planning on adding four additional pages and spot gloss to the cover. So if this project interests you, go ahead andĀ pre-order your copy today! I’m extremely proud to say that Sam was one of my students (at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit where he just graduated this week). I can’t think of a better way to advance my goal of supporting artists than helping one of the most talented students I’ve ever had publish their first book.

I’m very excited to announce @_sam_gulliver_ ’s Three Rings, a new book documenting three dirt racetracks in Western Michigan. I’m extremely proud to say that Sam was one of my students (at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit where he just graduated this weekšŸŽ‰). I can’t think of a better way than to advance my goal of supporting artists than helping one of the most talented students I’ve ever had publish their first book. We’re currently running a crowdfunding campaign to raise the necessary funds to send the book to print. We’re already a 1/3 of the way to our goal, which we’re looking to meet within the next two weeks in order to have it ready in time for Sam’s first solo exhibition this spring. If this project interests you, please help bring Three Rings to life by supporting our crowdfunding campaign today! Ships Worldwide. Link in bio There’s a wide variety of limited edition book + print sets available too.

I’m extremely excited to announce my new book, @jamesparker_ ’s Up Here I Am Weightless.šŸ“š This one is a little different (in subject and design) than other titles I’ve published, but as soon as I saw James’ work, I immediately knew that a book would be the ultimate way to experience it. The final design (with its Ed Ruscha inspired cover and open spine binding that allows the pages to lay completely flat) is meant to fully embrace the photobook form as an object. I hope you enjoy this one as much as I enjoyed creating it! The books have already arrived from the printer, and are ready to start shipping out. šŸ“¦ Order your copy today! The first 100 orders receive a free download of Infinity Dream, the electronic EP James composed as a companion piece to the book.šŸŽ§ Up Here I Am Weightless is James Parker’s typological exploration of the stillness and light of the morning and evening sky. A visual reflection on solitude and tranquility, the book invites you to find weightlessness in the simple act of observing the atmosphere and aircraft it contains. This 76 page hardcover Swiss bound monograph measures 5.75 x 9.25ā€ and features 68 plates and spot glossed cover.āœˆļø

I’ve very excited to announce my new YouTube Channel & Weekly Newsletter! šŸ“š I just posted my first video, an in-depth review of Todd Hido’s latest book, The End Sends Advance Warning, and the Weekly Newsletter has been going out too, so if any of this sounds interesting, please go ahead and subscribe to both! Link in bio. Here’s an overview of what I’ll be discussing on both platforms: Insight Into The Photobook Making Process: including topics like creating a book-worthy body of work, selecting images for a cohesive edit, book design, pairing and sequencing, and file preparations for print. Interviews With Artists: where we discuss their work, with a special focus their book project(s). Photobook Reviews: which discuss not only the photographs themselves, but also break down the details on why things work the way they do as a book. Weekly Artist Features: open for new submissions, as well as drawing from all the great work that’s been submitted to Subjectively Objective over the years that I haven’t had the opportunity to publish or feature yet. There will be quite a bit of overlap between the video and the newsletter content, as I know some people prefer watching to reading and vice versa, so subscribe to both! Link in bio.
