4 reasons Like You Film Club is excited to screen My Neighbor Totoro. Join us May 9 at the Pink Palace. Tag a friend who should see it! Link in bio.
1. It shows us the full range of childhood emotions. Totoro doesn’t flatten kids’ feelings. It makes small moments feel big—and gently reminds us that we can move through these feelings safely.
2. It turns “doing nothing” into something meaningful. This film models mindfulness, curiosity, and presence in a way kids actually feel, not just hear about.
3. The hand-drawn artistry is pure magic. It’s a reminder that animation is art. And it gives us a deeper appreciation for the human touch behind storytelling.
4. Those fuzzy feelings you get watching Totoro are now backed by science. A recent study found that watching Studio Ghibli films can significantly improve young people’s overall happiness and sense of purpose in life.

Up next in our year round film series, we present Flow. As the winner of the 2025 Academy Award for Best Animated Feature this film elevates animation to art, and proves that a great story doesn't need words. Join us before the film to take photos on our film club red carpet.
Join us at the Pink Palace Giant Screen Theater on Saturday, March 7 at 3pm. Get tickets now at LINK IN BIO! We invite you to come early to socialize or purchase movie concessions before the film begins.
A wondrous journey, through realms natural and mystical, Flow follows a courageous cat after his home is devastated by a great flood. Teaming up with a capybara, a lemur, a bird, and a dog to navigate a boat in search of dry land, they must rely on trust, courage, and wits to survive the perils of a newly aquatic planet. From the boundless imagination of the award-winning Gints Zilbalodis (Away) comes a thrilling animated spectacle as well as a profound meditation on the fragility of the environment and the spirit of friendship and community. Steeped in the soaring possibilities of visual storytelling, Flow is a feast for the senses and a treasure for the heart.

"Never forget what this feels like" I told myself so many times as a kid. My studio, @outerspacemane , is the room I always wanted as a kid. I never forgot what I wanted it to look like... I kept kid James close.
And that has proven to be so important in building community, helping artists, and now helping Kids.

"You were a child once too." - Fred Rogers.
I asked @noahglenn about the effect Mr. Rogers had on him as a kid, a father, and a creator.
That conversation is part of why the Like You Children’s Film Festival exists. We need storytelling that helps kids understand themselves, their feelings, and their imagination in a real way.
I’m on the board for the Like You Children’s Film Festival and UNAPOLOGETIC supports it. Memphis needs this.
The festival is 11/22 to 11/23 at the Pink Palace Museum.
LINK IN MY BIO. PARENTS NEED THIS TOO.
I asked Noah how being a father and an artist pulled him toward creating things that actually help kids. That path took him from the Like You Children’s Podcast to building a full film festival for young people right here in Memphis.
I’m on the board for the Like You Children’s Film Festival and UNAPOLOGETIC supports it. We need this in our city. Real stories. Real emotional tools. Real care for our kids.
Festival is 11/22 and 11/23 at the Pink Palace Museum.
