Tony Dotson: A Retrospective opens tonight at @samplespacevenue | 6PM-9PM | RSVP in bio to hold your spot
When Tony died in January 2025, I called @vansickleandrew and we immediately started planning this show. With a career spanning a quarter century, and nearly 5,000 works in the world, we took on the task of reaching out to friends and collectors to loan work. Hundreds of pieces were offered and we’ve curated a true look at Tony’s bold, prolific style of painting and sculpture.
Sneak preview of some install shots — come appreciate the work tonight and celebrate the special art that Tony made. AVS said it best, “When artists die, they often get forgotten, and there’s no organization around the local independent artist. So it’s really important to me that we honor his legacy.”
Tonight’s opening is also the first public offering at the latest iteration of @samplespacevenue , located on the third floor of the new @the_agar_co building on 4th St in downtown Cincinnati.
