Deer, there will always be a power imbalance between the model and the photographer. You create the environment, whether itās safe or not. A lot like the roads we built that deer must risk crossing over.

Itās done!! The culmination of a year of exploration, I dove headfirst into a community I knew very little about, spending countless fascinating hours capturing them. āHandsā, my thesis work, would have been absolutely impossible without the support of the fashion department at VCU, not just in providing materials, but also in their kindness in welcoming me into their space and actively helping me realize this project.
In front of you is a leather-bound book and 1,000 lbs of textiles, the equivalent of one year of waste from the departmentās production. Lastly, I should mention that the departmentās goal is a closed-loop system where no textile waste goes unaccounted for. You should definitely check out what @pop.up.stop is doing to create a healthier system.
I recently interviewed Yarden (of @yarden.dachut ) about material choice, the way we wear things, and how to survive war in your leather jacket. Iām quite fascinated by Yadenās vision and this universe he has created for him and his friends. Originally his discovery of the world of fashion came from the influence of anime and the Riot Riot Riot show from Raf Simons. He later would attend @bafcsm in London, and later attain an apprenticeship in LA where he would work to hone his craft under another designer. Now back in London, he is pushing menswear back into the 1600ās and focusing on the more ornate details. Stay tuned for some exciting news about his first ever Runway show this October!
I sat down with @tuuliturunen.studio to explore what drives her to create, how she chooses material, and more.

As a personal note; everyone loves to discuss wearability in the avant garde fashion space, look at Tuuliās Girls of the Year video on her website to see how to do it right. Every model seems to walk freely and comfortably (it can be done)
I sat down with Eddie Bell of @eigengrau.ltd to explore my fascination with his designs and material choices. Here is a snippet from our conversation about the old world and anatomic influences in his work.
