Shot this with 林穎志 on the northern coast of Taiwan.
Finally used AI to help with the script & voiceover. Maybe it can't capture the desired emotions yet, but at least it's "complete" and considering it was just the two of us, I can't really complain. I did interview him too, but my Chinese is not good enough to pull out the best bits into a compelling story.
Anyways, always happy to take out my Ursa Mini Pro and play with vintage glass too.
This piece attempts to express the paradox, how unhealthy the "health / fitness" industry can be, and how psychologically messed up and obsessive competitors have to be to be awarded a "pro" title. Portraying a dark side where the main character is literally drowning himself (both in trauma and in the ocean) in order to "win." Maybe too abstract but having competed twice and watching these documentaries progress for over a decade, this is just my perspective.

Thank you to @lululemontw for the amazing apparel -- I found both of the tops & bottoms in this film to not only be suitable for the humidity in Taiwan, but versatile enough for the demanding physicality of camera operating. Yesterday I wore it to a restaurant filming then we went directly afterwards to the gym without needing to change.
I also found the soft fabric can be used in a pinch to clean my camera lenses 哈哈哈
Looking forward to further testing these quality garments in Thailand and Saudi Arabia in the coming weeks. One other feature I always liked about Lululemon bottoms is the back pocket placement, which avoids you sitting on your wallet / phone because it slightly shifts to the side.

Was a fun evening shoot where we got to play with crazy fast T1.0 cine glass from @venuslaowa
I should have boosted the FX6 to the second native ISO 12,800 and used ND to properly expose...shooting more than one stop above iso 800 introduced much digital noise. Lesson learned -- always learning while on set!
Furthermore I stayed above T2.0 because I was pulling focus myself by hand. I don't see when I would use T1.0 unless it's a static interview or having a master focus puller with me...
