The third out of my "Merging Realities" series which explores the intersection of diverse cultural perspectives and the unison of imagination across boundaries.
African identity, though deeply rooted in tradition, continues to evolve and innovate through contemporary art.
I sought to sculpt more than a portrait — I aimed to capture a spirit. Through the interplay of textured relief and vibrant textile patterns, I celebrate both the physical and cultural identity. One whose presence is as bold as the fabrics they wear and as grounded as the earth from which they rise.
This work is not only a representation of a figure but also a statement about the fusion of tradition and creativity. It invites viewers to reflect on the stories woven into African identity and to appreciate the beauty that emerges when we honor our roots while embracing contemporary expression.

This piece was created last year, but its presence has stayed with me.
A life-size portrait of Comrade Daniel Umaru Lagi, created to honour a man remembered for his strength, presence, and the life he lived.
Every detail was shaped with care, not just to capture his likeness, but to preserve a feeling, a presence that remains.

Through textured forms, symbolic adornments, and dignified postures, Line of Kings will capture the unbroken thread of heritage connecting past, present, and future. A tribute to historical memory and a reminder of the strength and dignity within African identity.

“Ncheta,” meaning Remembrance in Igbo, explores memory, legacy, and the bonds that connect generations. The overlapping faces blend past and present, celebrating heritage while honoring those who came before us.
🌸 The vibrant colors and abstract symbols speak of history, culture, and ancestral wisdom kept alive through art and oral traditions.
🌼 The procession of figures at the bottom grounds the piece in community, reminding us that remembrance belongs to the collective, shaping how we step into the future.
