@SouthernNewMexicoTrailAlliance : Community-built connections to the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument
With support from a Trails+ Grant, SNMTA partnered with the BLM and 75 volunteers to build a new 2-mile connector trail in Las Cruces, improving safe access to the monument while linking non-motorized users to a larger trail network and building community support for expanded outdoor recreation opportunities in the area.

Did you know @newmexicopubliclands manages a recreational caving site just outside of Carlsbad? Parks Ranch Cave is the second-longest gypsum cave in the U.S., featuring a 4-mile underground network with 19 entrances.
With support from a Trails+ Grant, @NewMexicoTech 's @nckri is partnering with BLM and the National Speleological Society to enhance the site — improving accessibility, visitor experience, and long-term conservation.
Upgrades include a professionally installed vault toilet, expanded shade structure for group learning, an ADA-compliant trail system with educational signage, and a defined path through the cave to help protect this unique ecosystem. We recently visited the site to snap a few “before” photos and are excited to see these improvements come to life over the next two years.

The Outdoor Equity Fund supports programs that empower youth through hands-on learning and meaningful connections to the outdoors.
Aztec High School is using their #OEF award to teach students how to repair and build bikes, then take them outside to ride, explore, and experience the joy of movement.
From turning wrenches to building confidence, these young mechanics are gaining real-world skills, working toward industry certifications, and connecting with mentors for paid internships that open doors to future careers! We love seeing OEF in action!
