Introducing 'We are Marram' 🦘
The design honours our 33 past and present First Nations players, the 25 distinct language groups and mobs they belong to, our presence on Wurundjeri Country and more.
It will feature in Round 10 against Kuwarna at Adelaide Oval and Round 11 against Gold Coast at Marvel Stadium, and again during @nmfcwomens ' season.
On Sunday 19 April, more than 500 international students attended Marvel Stadium for a hands-on introduction to @afl , followed by a live match experience at the North Melbourne Cultural Heritage Series game against Richmond.
For many attendees this was their first experience of AFL, offering a memorable introduction to one of Australia's most recognised sporting codes while celebrating cultural diversity and strengthening community connection. @nmfchuddle

A summary for our friends in the US:
Australian football is played on an oval field with the aim to get as many goals as you can by kicking it through the two tall posts (6 points), or if it goes between a goal post and a shorter one a little further out then that’s a behind (1 point).
You can’t throw the ball. But you can run with it (as long as you bounce it at least once every 15 meters). You can also use your fist to punch it to a team mate (handball) or kick it (there’s a lot of kicking).
Catch the ball on the full from a distance of over 15 meters is a mark, which gives you a free kick. You can jump up on other players in order to do that and then it’s called a specky. (I promise I’m not making this stuff up 😆). I haven’t even told you how the lines men and women get the ball back in play… with their backs facing the field and throwing it up in the air behind them.
A super fast game! I can see why it’s so popular.
