PRE-ORDER! LEYDEN JARS "ILLUSORY TRUTHS" Personal and political (the two are inseparable), this set of songs and sounds have grown with us through some trying times. Metabolist in approach, the songs have continued evolving, adapting to changes in environment and interpretation through alternating performance and recording. What became Illusory Truths was inspired by Cooper Bowman at Altered States Tapes getting in touch about a potential release. Time to commit to tape. Illusory Truths is made of rage, resilience and the need for hope in the most hopeless seeming of times. Originally released on Altered Tapes in 2025, new reissue on Mascarpone Discos of this great album. Limited edition of 50 copies on cassette out on January 14th but already available to listen to and pre-order on our bandcamp. (LINK IN BIO) #experimentalmusic #cassette

Forgot to mention that Volume 2 is out! When making this one, it dawned that it was recordings from a specific 5 year period, most of which was spent living in a huge basement with no neighbours and no natural light! Short run cassette with spray paint artwork - each one unique! Available on the @goodsoutward bandcamp as well as wonderful shops such as @thecentralbazaar @soundohm @tobirarecords @worldofechomusic

Bonus on the way out of Japan House was this book on the Metabolist architectural movement and the Capsule Tower. Could have been a whole exhibition of its own!

Really inspiring Japanese Joinery exhibition at Japan House in West London. Absolutely breathtaking work and astonishing engineering. Now off to sharpen everything...

Fresh yesterday on the ALTERED STATES TAPES bandcamp. /album/illusory-truths A lot has happened since we finished this album, but it stands. Originally growing from live experiments and the recordings feeding back into more adventures in playing together. Endless thanks to Cooper Bowman for inviting us to make this for his label and for his tireless dedication to making these releases happen in such a thoughtful and biographical way. The release of Illusory Truths was held back to coincide with the new Dengie Hundred tape to make it a London double header!

Streic exhibition at the Cardiff national museum. Some things we need to relearn and most of all reimagine to build our collective strength.

Very glad and sad on the release of this LP we three made. Wish it could have been the first of many. There's copies making their way in the world, at tome records, cafe oto and world of echo in London and further afield at sound ohm in Europe and tobira in Japan. Wholesale distro from Central Bazaar. And there's the goods outward bandcamp of course. heres to Jim! Xx

Natalie Williams and Mark Courtney from the London based duo Leyden Jars are responsible for the most delicate and disorienting avant pop I've heard in the last decade. The ‘avant pop’ in LJ’s sense is the most accurate expression of the term: sophisticated structures distilled through pop sensibility with a heavy dose of musique concrète, dub-infused grooves, and super warm psychedelia. After their magnificent output on Mordant Music and Outer Reaches, the duo has recently started their own label Goods Outward and I strongly recommended checking it out. This Monday, Natalie and Mark were my dearest guests on the We Know Nonsense show with their signature blend of otherworldly electronics, off-kilter jams, outsider pop and a lovely air floating throughout the show link in bio as usual

Honoured to be a part of the new series of solo shows put on by @ciaran_____m of Breathing Heavy and Ashcircle fame. Both members of Breathing Heavy will do their solo turns, which I'm really looking forward to. They have a brilliant new album out on otoroku as a duo. Who knows what to expect on Sunday! A January afternoon at the @hundred_years_gallery - what could go wrong?
