Since our wedding/rapid evacuation to Knoxville/house and business stuff @pearmask and I haven’t had a trip that was just for us since before the pandemic. We were very lucky to be given the opportunity to stay at @lecontelodge on what we’re now calling our anniversary / honeymoon.
In 24 hours we experienced every season! Hot! Cold! Snow! Hail! Beef! It was a very incredible experience to hike along a ridge line inside of and above the clouds. I got a ton more photos but man what a good weekend.
For trail people we did the AT to The Boulevard to Leconte (then back)!
Took us two years to introduce ourselves to our neighbors because ***heavy introverts***. Anyways they rule and we went hiking today. Or scrambling over fallen trees. I’m not sure which we did more.
I posted this to my story earlier today and @the.emmahazel reminded me that sometimes the people in our lives like to see our faces occasionally.
Hi. It’s me. I’m 30 something years old and for, coming up on two years now, have been entirely consumed renovating our house (should have just knocked it down), learning a new city, and building a shop and business.
Any of yinz that know me know that when I get into something I go headfirst until it’s done. This has been the longest thing / time I’ve been whole-assing a thing and I feel like I’ve been bad about staying in touch with my friends and not super great at making the time for my new ones.
Anyways. Hi. Please hassle me more and I promise I’ll try to do better making time for all of yinz.
@pearmask has a habit of bringing home garbage she finds in alleyways. Some of it useful — our best saucepan in Pittsburgh was a ground-score. Some of it is just actual garbage 🤷♀️.
A year ago today Sarah found this garbage in an alley taking itself for a walk on our way home from dinner. Much like our own courting she spent more than an hour getting her to calm down by throwing pieces of leftover pork burrito at her.
We took this garbage home and I swore to find her owner or take her to the shelter. I don’t like smaller dogs and certainly not beagles. I spent the whole next day driving around the neighborhood and to a few vets to try to get her home — she sat stoically in the passenger seat like people.
Anyways I took her to the shelter. We then found her owner who wasn’t able to care for her and asked if we could. I spent that weekend with a hole in my heart and the following Monday as soon as I could I was back at the shelter to get my co-pilot. I love this creature more than I was aware I could.
Her previous owner named her Meatball and we couldn’t think of a better name.
After photographing hundreds of weddings sometime in 2016 I swore them off for good — until Reba and Nick asked if I would come to Sedona and photograph theirs.
I’m not kidding when I say that I wouldn’t have done this for anyone but these two and their perfect good boi.
Love ya both, thanks for having me. ❤️❤️❤️
