🎬 Did movie night just get an upgrade? A new bill introduced in New Jersey would allow for-profit movie theaters to apply for liquor licenses to sell alcoholic beverages two hours before and during first-run movie showings. The licenses would require approval from both municipalities and the state's Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control. Theaters that sell 10% of their alcohol from NJ craft breweries, wineries, distilleries, or cideries would pay a reduced license fee. The bill aims to help theaters diversify revenue and support the state's craft alcohol industry.

@rutgersnb held its School of Engineering convocation on Friday without its scheduled speaker, Rami Elghandour, after withdrawing its invitation to the alumnus because some students objected to his social media posts about Israel. The ceremony at Jersey Mike's Arena featured speeches from two graduating seniors and two university administrators. Chancellor Francine Conway said Rutgers is a place "where every student, of every background and every faith, belongs without qualification." The university stated that "no graduate should have to choose between their personal convictions and celebrating their hard-earned academic achievements at convocation." Elghandour posted his speech on YouTube and is scheduled to speak at a separate "People's Convocation" event on Tuesday. The ceremony included 973 students from the engineering school, its largest undergraduate class to date. 🔗 Link to story in bio 🖋️ Reporting by Liz Rosenberg

Is this feared cancer cluster a coincidence, or is a nearby hazardous former landmill to blame? So far, 182 Keyport, N.J. residents tell us they’ve been diagnosed with cancer–more than quadrupling the reported cases since we first reported on this mystery just one month ago. The Department of Environmental Protection, along with a testing company, is set to begin taking samples at the 40-acre site later this month. NJ.com continues to investigate the area of Keyport known as Aeromarine. 📷 Keyport Historical Society Archives | Sal Liguori 🎥 @laurenraposa ✒️ Karin Price-Mueller

Blue claw crabs are biting all along the Jersey coast and it's time to get your lines in the water! 🦀 Whether you're dropping a hand line off a pier or wading through shallow bays with a scoop net, now's the perfect time to catch dinner. Pro tip: chicken necks are your best friend for bait, and early morning on an incoming tide is when the magic happens. Just remember—if you catch a mama crab with eggs, she goes right back in the water. Who's heading out this weekend? 🔗 Link to story in bio 🖋️ Reporting by Advance Local Express Desk and Stephanie Loder

Since 1893, Princeton students were trusted to take in-person exams without a teacher watching them for cheating. But that's all about to change. Faculty members approved a new proposal that requires instructors to proctor in-person student exams One of the main reasons for the change is AI: “The ease of access of these tools on a small personal device have also changed the external appearance of misconduct during an examination, which is much harder for other students to observe (and hence to report),” Michael Gordin, the dean of the college, said. 🔗 Click the link in bio to read more 🖊️ Reporting by Brianna Kudisch

The winner visited the Eisenhower Exxon in Roseland, where employees told him that only a handful of their regulars played Pick-6 and urged him to search again. He returned home and methodically checked every possible location, knowing millions of dollars hung in the balance. After exhausting other options, he turned to his closet and began checking pants pockets one by one. Several pairs later, he found the crumpled ticket from last May.😱 They brought the verified ticket to the New Jersey Lottery office today... arriving at midday with just over a week remaining before the one-year deadline.😬💰The odds of matching all six numbers are 9,366,819 to 1. Pick-6 tickets cost $2 and drawn from a pool of 46 numbers. 📷 EJA, Google Maps

Sending a strong message to President Donald Trump: Performance artist “Suki” carved a giant “8647 = impeach” message in a field near Trump National Golf Course. The artist tells us the message is not meant to incite violence and used the word “impeach” to clarify her point. The message is meant to be seen from the air. The President often visits his golf club at various times throughout the summer months and the artist hopes she will reach an audience from the air as they fly into the club facility.
