#rejecttransbill2026 India, is it brain drain or do you treat your women, LGBT and lower caste people like shit so they are forced to leave and never come back?
Just 2 years back, trans rights in India, though imperfect, had enough ambiguity to be falsely called āprogressive for South Asiaā. Now your bill separates socio-cultural trans-femme groups from heteronormative society and completely eliminates trans men, non-binary and trans women who do not belong to your own religious group.
Instead of using excuses like misuse of funds by āfake trans peopleā when a simple google search can tell you the funds have actually been underutilised, just come out and say it- you are headed towards a fascist dictatorship.
Meet our guest artist Nirrhit!
Nirrhit Pal is a tribal and trans artist from North Bengal. Working across performance, latex, costume-making, and sculpture, his practice employs unconventional materials gathered from natural and urban environments. His bodies function as a site of memory, vulnerability, and resistance, where ancestral craft practices intersect with experimental materials and forms.
Rooted in anti-heteronormative ideologies, his work challenges rigid frameworks of gender, culture, and identity. By embracing contradiction and material dissonance, Palās practice opens new ways of understanding South Asian histories and lived experiences beyond dominant narratives.
Catch his work on 6-8th of February at Copeland Gallery. RSVP in bio!
