This summer marks 20 years since Bangles first found its way into the world.
Released in July 2006 as the first radio single from my debut album 'Along the Dusty Road', it came from a very personal place... a moment where I was still searching, still figuring out what my voice really sounded like. Everything around me felt polished, fast, and future-facing. I went the other way. Something more rustic, more organic… something that felt like memory.
I didn’t know if it would connect. I didn’t know if there was space for it.
But there was.
Bangles became one of the most defining pieces of my journey, not just because people embraced it, but because it helped me understand who I was as an artist. It was the moment I stopped chasing and started listening. The moment I began to find my own sound.
What’s stayed with me the most is how the track has travelled through time. It’s found its way to different generations, different ages, different moments in people’s lives... carrying the same feeling in new hands. That’s the quiet magic of music… it doesn’t belong to one time, it just keeps unfolding.
Looking back now, it feels like both a beginning and a turning point. A small, uncertain step that ended up shaping everything that followed.
And maybe the biggest lesson it gave me… trust your instinct. Even if it means walking a path no one else is on.
Grateful to everyone who’s carried this song with them over the years. ❤️

RIP Philippe Gaulier.
A subversive legend and a true master of play. I had the privilege of meeting him many years ago, and like so many who crossed his path, I left both terrified and inspired in equal measure. His teaching stripped away pretence and demanded honesty, presence, and above all, joy.
He reminded us that performance is not about showing how clever we are, but about being gloriously, vulnerably alive in front of others.
His influence echoes through countless artists and will continue to do so for generations.
Thank you for the mischief, the rigour, and the laughter.
