1 year ago today I chose a life of sobriety, 1 year ago I chose a life of mental and physical health, 1 year ago I chose me. I’ve been cooking professionally for most of my life now. For a while being in a kitchen and restaurant was the only thing in the world that made sense. It was the only thing I ever felt I was good at so it was my obsession, and then became my addiction. Outside the kitchen I had other addictions to replace that feeling of calm and order. The thing with making one thing in your life the most important thing is that everything else suffers. I’m sorry to anyone that became collateral damage. I’ve been able to exercise my demons and put down the bottle and partying. I have mental clarity for the first time in my life, and making myself the most important thing in my life seems to be working better. Thank you to @lafantaisie_xo , Eden, and Quinn for making me realize that I have a higher calling than just cooking and kitchens. Life is a beautiful struggle. If you think you have an addiction you probably do. It’s never too late to reinvent yourself, it took me 50 years
