Exhibition views of our show SHADES OF SHAPE at @galerieburster
I am very happy about the fantastic cooperation with @ninalaaf . Her objects and my photographs communicate with each other in a very special way.
We will both be in the gallery on Saturday at 3 pm as part of @charlottenwalk and will talk about our work.
The exhibition can be seen as part of the @emopberlin until 19 April.

It was fantastic to see that the opening of @ipmafestival was a great success. I found it hard not to have been there.
My series CHAMPAGNER IM KELLER looks amazing on the colorful walls. Many thanks to @svetlanabaturaphotography for the invitation. Merci to @studioivonnethein for sending me the video 😘
Happy to share these installation views of my current solo show MARIENBAD AM MEER @galerieburster
There were many FIRSTS in this project, which was very exciting.
It was the first time I worked with a digital camera and a different format.
For the first time during this long-term project, I was not only working on a series while pregnant, but my little daughter was also with me in Marienbad last May. Photographing with a child is its own challenge. She also finds everything super exciting - but usually not the same as me.
For the first time I worked with collages, which - together with the color shapes on the walls - are inspired by a great photo book: Mariánské Lázně by Erich Einhorn, Pavel Kohout, Pravoslav Sovák from 1960. I love this book for its fresh and contemporary design.
Save the Date: Artist Talk with Miriam Zlobinski 1 April, 3 pm.

Praying mantis looking at me, 2026
Praying mantises are often associated with stereotypes because of their mating behavior. While sexual cannibalism can occur in some species, it is less common in the wild than popular culture suggests and is often linked to stress or food scarcity. Despite their reputation, praying mantises are highly efficient predators whose behavior has been exaggerated by humans.
Part of my ongoing series DARKNESS IN WHICH I SWIM.
A large number of the animal sculptures in Berlin’s Tiergarten are distinctly male. Elevated on pedestals throughout the park, their bodies rise into view alongside the blossoming trees of spring — drawing the gaze equally toward flowering branches and exposed anatomical details.
My works are a light and seasonally attuned commentary on the visual texture and sculptural language of my everyday surroundings in Berlin.

FLÜGEL, 2026
Butterflies are among the most layered symbols in cultural history, embodying transformation, beauty, and ephemerality through their brief and radical metamorphosis. Yet this process can also be read as a sequence of endings, where each stage marks the death of a former state, binding the image of the butterfly closely to notions of mortality. Across many cultures, butterflies appear as carriers or manifestations of the soul, moving between the realms of the living and the dead, sometimes even as omens of death.
This typology is part of my series DARKNESS IN WHICH I SWIM. A series that explores the natural-historical and cultural connotations and stereotypes of animals and plants.
Available during #galleryweekend at @galerieburster

From a photographic point of view, I have been more interested in pictures of women since the beginning of my career. At first, it was more of an unconscious process, but today I can say that I see it as an empowerment of the gaze.
As a mother, teacher and photographer I still see structural discrimination and want my daughter to grow up in a world with more equality. There is still a lot to be done!

Title: Daughter with black hair.
2025
As a student I was deeply inspired by the performative self-portraits of Jürgen Klauke. His series ÄSTHETISCHE PARANOIA is still extraordinary to me.

2. anemones, 2023
Fortunately, my daughter doesn’t find algae disgusting. Every now and then, she wants to be part of my projects.
These two works are part of my new and ongoing series DARKNESS IN WHICH , in which I deal with the aesthetic of algae and want to draw attention to the urgency of preserving nature through performative and absurd actions.

At the end of last year, I collected algae from the Kiel Fjord to continue working on portraits in which algae become hairstyles. I explore my fascination with these life forms by engaging with their aesthetic potential. Through performative interventions, I transform algae —typically regarded as uncanny and unpleasant— into objects of adornment. In doing so, I renegotiate the boundaries between disgust and beauty.
