While NILES has been keeping quiet and grinding the past few years, we’ve also been dreaming up new adventures. This division, alongside a few others, will be able to better take care of our industry’s needs. Some of you have noticed that we’ve already been handling all low-voltage and audio integration work for our clients for years - now we’re officially offering it to the public. As part of our ever-growing firm, we have a dedicated team of highly-skilled integrators available in-house. This ties back to our mission of being a one-stop shop, delivering world-class performance verification top-down, making our process the most streamlined, turnkey experience possible for our clients. Looking back at 2019, Graybox (@grayboxnashville ) set the bar with a natural light–drenched design that redefined what a “home studio” could be—pushing the envelope of both aesthetic appeal and modern building science. Every detail was handled with care to ensure the visual softness is matched by uncompromising acoustical accuracy. Designed to remain timeless, Graybox is a refreshing breath of air for years to come. While the aesthetic focus emphasized natural light and openness, the architectural acoustics and mechanical design are anything but typical of a home studio. The Control Room, though modest in footprint, is a finely tuned “golden ratio” suite with intentional treatments, anchored by a pair of Barefoot (@barefootsound ) monitors, while the Live Room gains a sense of scale and sonic depth from its soaring 16’ ceiling. Expansive glass throughout amplifies the natural light and enhances the immersive atmosphere, creating a space that feels as inspiring as it sounds. This 950 sq. ft. environment was crafted as a creative hub equally suited for video capture and music recording. The design balances acoustic precision with an open, airy canvas ideal for TV and Film. The client’s vision was clear: a space where any engineer, producer, or artist could walk in, sit down, and get to work with ease. With intuitive flexibility at its core, the studio can host a film crew with dynamic camera options, capture a full live band tracking session, or house a string ensemble—all while maintaining effortless flow and seamless audio integration throughout. Looking back at 2018 and one of our very first full NILES buildouts, this space belongs to Grammy Award–winning and freakishly talented drummer, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and engineer Adam Box (@adambox____ ). When Adam isn’t out on tour with Brothers Osborne (@brothersosborne ), you’ll find him in his stunning 1,400 sq. ft. Nashville studio. After years of work as both a session and live drummer, Adam knew exactly what he wanted when it came time to build his own creative home. One of our favorite parts of designing studios is the collaboration with our clients—stepping into their inspirations, aesthetic and sonic preferences, and working side by side to shape a space that’s truly theirs. Adam’s studio is exactly that. With stonework, wood details, and a charming, lived-in aesthetic, the vibe is unmistakable. To top it off, Adam personally handled many of the finish details, giving the space his unique touch. The layout features a full-scale Control Room, a spacious Live Room, two amp ISO booths, and one large ISO booth designed as a dry drum capture space. Every room is wired for a complete live-tracking environment, allowing an entire band to plug in and record seamlessly. The Live Room feels sonically open and collaborative, while the Control Room is fine-tuned for hours of creative focus. Adam’s studio doesn’t just look good—it’s a space where comfort, vibe, and acoustical precision come together. A true creative hub for writing, tracking, mixing, and producing without limits. Take a peek at our 2021 project for power couple Latifah Alattas (@iamthelatifah @modaspira @pagecxvi ) & Lucas Morton (@lucas_morton ). Both are incredibly talented producers, engineers, multi-instrumentalists, and mixers. Their studio isn’t just visually inspiring—it performs. This 1,000 sqft. environment was meticulously designed to foster creativity and collaboration, built from the ground up, delivering acoustical accuracy in every purpose-built room. With seamless audio integration throughout, the space ensures intuitive connectivity no matter where you are in the studio. Behind the walls, the architectural acoustics are second to none. The design emphasizes a “plug-and-play” workflow: each control room, both isolation booths, and all common spaces are acoustically isolated with extraordinary attention to detail. With six dedicated independent floating-floor systems supporting each suite, while tailored sound-reducing wall assemblies and intentional treatments provide clarity and precision for mixing. Full-lite doors and windows bring the natural environment inside, and because no suite is mechanically bonded, all can operate simultaneously with minimal sound transmission. For monitoring, both Latifah & Lucas opted for @genelec_usa “The Ones” series monitors with GLM on board calibration. The aesthetic palette, paired with an abundance of natural light, creates an inviting atmosphere that reflects Latifah and Lucas’s personalities. A look back at our 2019 project with Producer, Engineer, and pianist Ian Miller (@millerkeys ) and his private Nashville studio, affectionately called @roastedbeanstudio . This build was a true collaboration between NILES and Ian. Our team handled the heavy lifting, while Ian—being a DIY connoisseur—took charge of many of the finishing details. The result is a space where every corner has intention, blending seamless integration with a true “plug-and-play” workflow. Designed around Ian’s creative habits, the studio strikes a balance between form and function. Originally a barn-style two-car garage with a second floor, the space went through many layout experiments, and some creative engineering, before we landed here. High ceilings provide a dynamic acoustic playground, while natural light from surrounding windows connects the space to the outside world. Layered textures, warm tones, and custom-painted finishes bring depth and inspiration, making the studio feel both grounding and liberating; encouraging any avenue to be pursued. The Control Room is acoustically isolated with sound-reducing wall systems, a full soft-ceiling bass trap, tuned corner traps, wall treatments, and full-lite doors throughout. Despite its compact footprint, it delivers acoustic accuracy—seamlessly tying into the larger studio environment. This studio isn’t just visually inspiring—it performs. Whether Ian is producing, mixing, or playing, its limitless color options give freedom for whichever brush Ian reaches for that day. The space provides the sonic palette and creative atmosphere to pursue any direction with confidence. A look back at our 2022 project for multi-Grammy and Dove Award-winning producer and songwriter @kyleleemusic . This suite was shaped entirely around Kyle’s creative process—a quiet, natural environment designed for collaboration, deep focus and seamless integration. Airy and intentional, the space balances style and acoustical precision, walking the line between form and function. Though the layout is modest, the high ceilings and soft daylight from surrounding windows bring a sense of openness. Textural natural elements, warm tones, and custom lighting deliver a distraction-free environment that feels both grounded and inspiring. The suite is acoustically isolated from the rest of the home with thoughtful detailing: sound-reducing wall systems, a full soft-ceiling bass trap, a false rear wall trap, and full-lite doors. It integrates into the home’s flow, but easily transforms into a creative escape when the doors close. For monitoring, we designed around Kyle’s selected ATC SCM45A monitors, paired with Dynaudio subwoofers for low-end management and calibration—perfectly tuned to the room’s acoustical response. This space not only looks and feels effortless, but also delivers when it comes to acoustic performance—ensuring that what he hears is exactly what will translate in the final master. We. Are. Back. We’ve been quiet, but working more than ever. The past year we’ve kept our head down - dreaming, building, and restructuring from the ground up. We’ve found what we believe to be the right team. With a new Chief Operating Officer, Media department, Accounting and Legal teams, and systemic changes in place to scale this company to the next level… Along with that, we’ve rebranded under “NILES”. NILES is the parent company to our recently announced @niles.furniture division, and our soon to be announced @niles.audio division. Our design work and acoustical architecture / build team will live under this @niles handle. This new structure allows us to handle more realms of service for our clients, as well as sub-contract out for other larger scale projects. We are thrilled about these new divisions.
