The eloquent words of Joanna Macy, a deep ecologist that inspires me greatly. She exudes a playfulness amongst seriousness, and curiosity in crisis - healthy feeling habits amongst the sea of insights in earth stewardship work.

Thank you dear friends who lent themselves to this video, I savor the opportunity to watch those around me harmonize with life in the way they do.

Unbelievably excited to share that yesterday, on Earth Day, UNEARTH finally spread it’s wings - now streaming on Documentary+ @documentaryplus . Nearly seven years in the making, this film is every bit as relevant as the day it started. So deeply proud of this team, mission, and result. I can genuinely say I’ve enjoyed watching this film close to 15 times in the process of its making. Each time, I still finish watching it with a refreshed fire of inspiration, motivation, and passion. And I’m honored to have played a small role in this big story.

If you’re looking for inspiration in the mission of caring for planet and people, and want to see a shining example of how people can join arms and make real change in the world, give it a watch. The frames here are serene and beautiful, but the story is an edge-of-your-seat, passionate eco-thriller.
•
Congrats to the UNEARTH team, to my brother @jhunternolan for a deep & honest directorial debut, and all the love to the communities who continue to preserve and care for ecosystems in Alaska & worldwide.
•
“UNEARTH follows Indigenous leaders and commercial salmon fishermen in Bristol Bay, Alaska, as they unite to protect one of the world’s most vital salmon ecosystems from a proposed copper mine. Set against the global race for critical minerals, the film reveals the tension between energy demands and environmental cost, and the communities working to defend the land and waters they depend on.”

Four months of exploring, of listening, of contact. Birdsong symphonies, waters in all phases of majesty, swelling contortions of light, groaning glaciers reminding the human of mission… a land as wild as the inside. Thank you, place. Thank you, here. Thank you, this.
It is the honor of my life to film and participate in containers where people are stepping into their love, their power, their service. This past June I had the opportunity to do so alongside 9 other men in Montana. Every person present had a completely different background, story, and reason for being there. Yet there was a braid of common threads underneath.
•
“I want to help, I want to serve, I want to be a more supportive father / husband / brother / person, I want to be connected to this land - to be a steward, I want to forgive, I want to feel fully alive, I want to create, I want to live from my heart.”
•
I hope this film says the rest. And beyond that, you’ll have to experience it yourself.
•
Also, this is the first full piece I’ve ever scored myself 🎵

The flower of Día de los Muertos, a world renowned tradition born in Michoacán, Mexico.
•
These flowers have become intrinsically woven into “Suena”, a body of work created by Her Mana and Danila Iliushchenko. These flowers will adorn altars, be threaded onto string and imprinted into fabrics, emanate life through color, symbolize reverence, and remind us of the transmutation that is possible through Art in all of its forms.
•
The song Suena inspired a visual narrative that was created last November 1st with an international team of creatives that circled Lago Patzcuaro and other sites in Michoacán together. The visuals allude to Death in it’s many forms - the loss of life, the grieving of unrealized dreams, the closing of life chapters. And fully honoring and recognizing death is what delivers us into rebirth.
•
The song “Suena” comes out on November 1st.
Her Mana will premiere the music video at the Paramount in Austin, Texas on November 16th.
