Currently hosting the @wsl World Longboard Championship, Sunzal in @surfcity , El Salvador is a broad cobblestone reef that juts much farther out into the ocean than the surrounding coastline. Because of that, it pulls in nearly every bit of swell out there. The point is sharply angled and relatively deep, which means the wave holds its shape in all but the largest swellsâthough it tends to be soft and filled with fat sections.
As a result, Sunzal has become El Salvadorâs hotspot for longboarders and, when itâs small, beginners. Still, if everywhere else is flat, Sunzal will almost always have something to offer. And if you happen to be checking it on a Friday evening⊠you might want to stick around for the festivities after dark â theyâre pure El Salvador.
