Just realised I never put up a regular post of the second Dub-Session SoundSystem Conference at the End of May I supported again. Artists and Systems:
@riddimrebels with @francesco.pupa.rebel@hns.bless@sutti_thom@sandokanhifi and @healhertz_soundsystem with @irieyouthman_ going until sunlight.
Didn't take many pictures of the crowd as I just enjoyed an evening of good music on great sounding systems to dance and to be guided by their messages.
I just wanted to share it as both iterations of the Dub Gate events were very unique to themselves if compared but both sounded and felt great in their own way.
Thanks to all again who make these events what they are, even just by attending and vibing. Sadly without paying guests Events like these are more than difficult to host, especially legally because of the potential power of the systems and strict laws for output levels in public events. Nothing against that as it's for everyone's health -it just makes it more difficult...
Thanks as well to my colleagues providing recommendations, giving ideas and providing gear at @avpro.vienna -in this case lighting, power and best practical and safe way for our given circumstances. Just left-over pieces of Molton (heavy fire-resistant black fabric for film and theater widely used) thrown over the construction fences helped to improve the acoustic experience and lessen potential problems with neighbours and made it possible to control sightlines and loudness when moving through this industrial venue.
Ideas for the future:
More Indirect lighting for the dancefloor by bouncing via the roof either by lights like gobos also usable for visual effects via live dmx control via visuals projected either via a colorful abstract videoloop or music reactive live rendering through software, both are within reach upgrades with varying time demand but not a lot more equipment. Looking forward to more experiments for scalability while being set up and controlled (mostly automated or custom programmed by me or looped) during the event by mostly myself. Trying to support the Music with visual athmosphere in whatever way the artist intends and the crowd enjoys, while being able to add my nuance
