I shot this footage of Zohran a little over a year ago in Albany. With DSA, his team, and multiple other community organizations he organized a rally and lobbying day for @notonourdimeny - a bill that would prohibit NY-based charities from funding occupation and genocide in Palestine. Hundreds of us got up before the crack of dawn and took buses to Albany to fill up the state capitol and lobby state assembly members to support the bill. It was the same week that the IDF bombed the Al-Mawasi refugee camp in Rafah, murdering over 21 Palestinians and injuring many more.
Electoral politics alone will never save us, especially not from the U.S. war machine and imperialism, but this primary win is a massive victory for the U.S. + global left, validating so much of what we’ve been saying and fighting for, for years. If Zohran wins in November may he become a mayor that is truly + democratically beholden to the people and may our movements hold him accountable. 🍉🌹🍞
Some 2023 highlights - way overdue but by far one of the best moments of this year was building a set for my senior thesis that literally took up the entire sound stage. I could not have done it + it wouldn’t have been nearly as fun without everyone tagged. :) and then we got to screen it at the Walter Reade!
