VISITING NAUYACA FALLS:
-Nauyaca Falls in Costa Rica can be accessed via two distinct paths - the west side, Don Lulo’s, which requires a 2.5 mile hike, horseback or 4x4 drive in, or the east side, Nauyaca Waterfall Nature Park’s, which consists of a short truck ride and a 600 meter walk.
-The east side is often less crowded, but the west side is the more popular and strenuous choice.
-The east side has easier access to the upper pool, while some prefer the view of both pools from the west side.
-If you’re self driving to the falls, you’ll likely need a 4x4 vehicle to even access the tour offices.
-When we visited, we chose the east side and spent a great deal of our visit alone (on our side at least), enjoying the view.
-Aim to arrive when the hikes open for the best chance of having the falls to yourself and enjoy!

In February of this year, I headed to Grand Bahama to embark on an experience that I’d dreamed about for years. I joined @ddcanabal & @madeinwater with @epicdiving on an all women’s retreat to learn more about Tiger Sharks in both a classroom setting and firsthand in the water. The sharks also got the memo: only female Tiger Sharks visit divers at Tiger Beach!
Not only did I get to witness some of the celebs of Tiger Beach up close, but I also learned more about shark behavior, shark personalities, and shark handling in a few days than I’ve learned in countless books and TV shows and met some amazing friends along the way.
The entire week was a reminder of the strength and power of women - both shark and human. Thank you @ddcanabal and @madeinwater for sharing your knowledge, skills, this incredibly special place and all of the best vibes. I’m forever grateful 💙
