** UK Non-Resident disposing of UK residential property? HMRC Non-Resident Capital Gains Tax Return (NRCGT) Effective 2015/16 tax year ** Following the changes to capital gains an owner who makes a disposal of a UK residential property is now required to file a Capital Gains Tax Return to HMRC even if there is no capital gains tax to pay on the disposal. This Capital Gains Tax Return is in addition to the annual Self Assessment Tax Return (SATR) with the deadline to file this and pay any capital gains tax being as follows: - within 60 days of selling the property if the completion date was on or after 27 October 2021 - within 30 days of selling the property if the completion date was between 6 April 2020 and 26 October 2021 If the disposal is not reported on time penalties will be issued. If the interest in the residential property was held jointly, each individual must file a Capital Gains Tax Return separately notifying their own share. The above also applies even if you have disposed of only part of an interest in a UK residential property. As the deadline is very tight careful planning is of great importance. Unless you have a detailed knowledge of the associated rules we would suggest that you let us handle this for you as the area of capital gains is a complex issue. Contact us today for a free, no obligation, competitive quote. There are no hidden costs, what we quote is what you pay, you will be given a FIXED FEE for a professional service tailored to your personal requirements. /uk-tax-for-expats / #uktaxforexpats #uktax #ukexpattax #uktaxreturn #uknonresidenttax #uknonresident #hmrcstatutoryresidencetest #nonukresidentstax #nonukresidents #nonukresidenttax #taxfilingservice #nonresidents #uknonresidents #nonresidenttax #taxpreparationservice #taxpreparation #taxservice #besttaxfilingservice #taxconsultingservice #uktaxfilingdeadline #uktaxdeadline #hmrctaxdeadline #uktaxreturndeadline #ukcapitalgains #capitalgainstax #ukcapitalgainstax #capitalgains #nonresidentcapitalgainstax #uknonresidentcapitalgainstax #nonresidentcapitalgains

HOW DOES IT AFFECT YOU? ** UK HMRC - Statutory Residence Test (SRT) ** The number of days spent in the UK usually determines your UK residence status - UK resident - UK ordinarily resident - UK resident and domiciled - Temporarily resident - Not resident - Not ordinarily resident - UK resident but not domiciled - Dual resident of the UK and another country The UK residency rules changed with effect from the 2013/14 tax year involving the Statutory Residence Test (SRT). Various tests are performed based on the number of days you have visited the UK in a tax year in order to determine whether you are classed as UK Resident or UK Non-Resident for that tax year. If classed as UK resident under the (SRT) you would then be TAXED ON YOUR WORLDWIDE INCOME so it is very important that your individual personal circumstances are dealt with correctly to protect your residency status and exposure to UK taxation. Also, ties such as home, work, family etc. in the UK may class you as UK resident for tax purposes regardless of where you reside. We strongly advise that you seek professional advice in relation to this. Residency is a complex issue so let us take care of it for you. If you are unsure of your residency status or would like to know how many days you can visit the UK in a tax year without becoming UK resident contact us for assistance. /uk-tax-for-expats / #uktaxforexpats #uktax #ukexpattax #uktaxreturn #uknonresidenttax #uknonresident #hmrcstatutoryresidencetest #nonukresidentstax #nonukresidents #nonukresidenttax #taxfilingservice #nonresidents #uknonresidents #nonresidenttax #taxpreparationservice #taxpreparation #taxservice #besttaxfilingservice #taxconsultingservice #uktaxfilingdeadline #uktaxdeadline #hmrctaxdeadline #uktaxreturndeadline

UK Tax For Expats - COVID-19 Have you broken your UK Non-resident status? HMRC have stated that they will be scrutinising this tax year due to COVID-19 and the impact on an individuals residence status. During the 2020/21 UK tax year if you were stuck in the UK due to the following: - Quarantined or advised by a health professional to self-isolate in the UK as a result of the virus - Were advised by official Government advice not to travel from the UK as a result of the virus - Were unable to leave the UK due to the closure of international borders - Were asked by your employer to return to the UK temporarily as a result of the virus HMRC will consider the above circumstances as being 'exceptional' and you can disregard up to 60 days of those spent in the UK as a result of this. There has been no extension to the maximum limit of the number of days which can be disregarded, which remains at 60 days despite the scale of the pandemic. HMRC have also confirmed that rules surrounding a "significant break" from overseas work will not be relaxed. If you have any concerns as to whether this has affected your UK Non-resident status contact us today for a free, no obligation, competitive quote. There are no hidden costs, you will be given a FIXED FEE for a professional service tailored to your personal requirements. /uk-tax-for-expats UK TAX RETURN FILING DEADLINES: 31 OCTOBER 2021 AND 31 JANUARY 2022 #uktaxforexpats #uktax #ukexpattax #uktaxreturn #uknonresident #hmrcstatutoryresidencetest #nonukresidentstax #nonukresidents #nonukresidenttax #taxfilingservice #nonresidents #uknonresidents #nonresidenttax #taxpreparationservice #taxpreparation #taxservice #taxfilingservice #besttaxfilingservice #taxconsultingservice #nrcgt #uknonresidentcapitalgainstax #ukcapitalgainstax #ukcapitalgainstaxreturn #taxfilingdeadline #uktaxfilingdeadline
