Dear @chancetherapper , THANK YOU! Thank you for seeing me. Thank you for remembering. Thank you for the shout out. My heart is grateful😭
I wrote ‘No Grandfathers In Chicago’ during a summer when so many Black boys were losing their lives to gun violence. It hit me that these young men will never have the chance to become grandfathers. I could say so much more, but I’m overwhelmed with emotions.
You and @jamilawoods created something beautiful. Eternally, beautiful. I pray that the hearts that were meant to hear it, HEAR it.
Y’all, go listen to ‘No More Old Men’ and the entire Starline album. Run it upppppp👏🏾
The last few weeks have been painful. IYKYK🙏🏾
The moments in these photos have brought me bits of happiness in this season. Happy places, safe spaces. And always, the theatre.
Oh, and selling out an original show, created and written by myself and my husband, in the midst of it all has been a somewhat necessary distraction🌷
Isaiah 55:8-9🙏🏾
From nothing, to being in the room where it happens🤯Today we had a “soft opening” tour of the Obama Center and I’m a proud Chicagoan. South sider to be exact👏🏾
Chicago ❤️Y’all in the mood for some authentic storytelling and live music? My husband and I created “The Late Bloomers”. This show is for those who have felt behind in life. May 15th is our day to share, laugh, cry and realize that we’re actually right on time🌷
My husband and I created a show together and half of the tickets have already sold out🤯
We’re excited to present “The Late Bloomers”.🌷
The performance begins with 45 minutes of me sharing intimate, comedic, and personal stories, reflecting on the journey of coming into one’s own later in life.
The night continues with a 30-minute live concert, featuring Just Steve and an acoustic band, bringing those themes to life through heartfelt music.
Join us for an unforgettable experience 🌷There are only 90 seats available and 14 tickets have already been purchased. Grab yours ASAP🙏🏾Link in bio💐
I’ve been writing for long enough to know that, the thoughts I’m terrified to share, are the thoughts people can relate to the most🫶🏾
So here it is, my first essay of the year❤️
