Newrozê me pîroz
The fire of Newroz rises into the night, But this fire is also the fire within us—the flame of resistance, of perseverance, of a passionate will to live fully. Just as the fire leaps skyward, we carry an inner flame—one that fuels our joy, our resistance, and our unstoppable pursuit of life itself.
Newroz in Akre. 2024.
Today on #internationalwomensday, we celebrate the women who shape our stories, hold our communities together, and lead with courage in the face of challenge.
Across the world, the women we work with through Lens on Life are educators, artists, organizers, mothers, and storytellers. They are documenting their realities, preserving their cultures, and showing the strength and creativity that exists in every community.
Through the lens, their voices are clear: resilience, dignity, and hope.
Today we honor the women behind the camera, in front of the camera, and everywhere in between.

Before class, my heart was heavy. My family, my country-under the tangible threat of war, real bombs falling. That's a terrifying exchange: life for destruction. But then, in the classroom, something so small in size-a ten-pound note and candy-became the artwork. I held that note, tangible, as we exchanged. But the value wasn't just money or sweetness of the candy; it was a conversation, a dialogue, a shift in meaning. The classroom became a space where art isn't sold but lived. And in that exchange, I felt the weight of what's tangible- both a note in my hand and the reality far away. Art's value isn't always in a museum; sometimes it's in a shared moment, helping us hold both the beauty and the harshness of what's real."
