Storytime: Radar
This track started with a simple but strong instrumental idea from BRN. From the very beginning we agreed on one thing: we didn’t want to make just another track or quick edit. We wanted to build something original.
So I started writing.
Line after line, rewriting lyrics over and over again until something finally felt right. When the words clicked, I recorded the vocal myself.
That’s what makes this record so personal to me.
Radar was written completely from scratch. No samples, no shortcuts, just an idea that slowly grew into a song.
When the production was almost finished, we felt like the story could use another voice. So we invited Britt, a friend from my neighborhood, to add a female counter-vocal. That was the final piece that shaped the song.
After that we tested the record a lot, got support from other deejays (vintage culture, ayybo, …) and thought carefully about where it should live. PNK felt like the right home for it, so we signed the single there.
Seeing the track climb the charts now means a lot, because it proves that something truly original can still connect with people.

Between the shows I did some sightseeing at the aquarium, had a typical US deep-pan pizza, and walked around until I realized I probably should’ve used sunscreen.
