This photo captures a serene winter scene in Central Park during a snowstorm at blue hour. A lone figure walks through a softly lit stone tunnel, leaving footprints in the fresh snow. The tunnel glows warmly under the yellow light of a streetlamp, creating a striking contrast against the cold, blue tones of the surrounding snow and trees. The overall mood is one of quiet solitude and beauty. This spot has always been a favorite of mine, a place of quiet reflection amidst the chaos of New York City. This image is a nice representation of several themes prevalent in my work, such as loneliness, and the blurred lines between dream and reality. /Nicolas Miller (@nickmillers ) #Fotografiska #FotografiskaFeatures #Photography #NewYorkCity #NewYork #City

Right from the start, my love for neo-noir films drove me to capture the city's moody nights. There’s something magical about the hidden beauty that comes alive after dark, especially when it rains. The way city lights reflect on wet streets creates a unique vibe that I truly enjoy capturing in my shots. I also love the meditative feeling of exploring the city at night in bad weather, wandering through nearly empty streets while others are cozy at home. Some of the most touristic spots look so different when completely empty. I took this photo during a rain storm, in the theater district near Times Square. I particularly love this shot because of the elegance of the woman, standing confidently in the storm, with her umbrella, trench coat and hand bag. /Nicolas Miller (@nickmillers ) #Fotografiska #FotografiskaFeatures #Photography #NewYorkCity #NewYork #City

I love exploring the industrial past of New York that can be found outside of Manhattan, especially in more remote parts of Queens or Brooklyn. This photo was taken in Red Hook, an area of South Brooklyn which used to be a prosperous shipping and port area back in the early 20th century. This neighborhood fascinates me for its “timeless vibe”, full of classic cars, old pubs and abandoned warehouses. You feel like you’re transported back to the gritty New York of the 70s. I took this photo not long after night fall on New Year’s Eve, a couple of years ago. The city got swamped with deep fog that night and I caught this scene outside Sunny’s, a legendary local bar. This was one of those times where you feel like you’re on a movie set. The man was smoking a cigarette looking at the sky, or maybe the bar sign, probably reflecting on what he had achieved that year and what was next to come for him. Rumor has it that the truck parked in front of the bar has been sitting there for decades and used to belong to the original owner. /Nicolas Miller (@nickmillers ) #Fotografiska #FotografiskaFeatures #Photography #NewYorkCity #NewYork #City

“Summer in Brooklyn” is one of my favorite photos. On warm summer days, water hydrants are often opened for kids to play in the spray, and during one of my evening walks, I noticed the golden sunlight reflecting off the water from a hydrant on a Brooklyn street. This magical moment only lasted for a few minutes and I couldn’t capture any interesting subject going through the scene. For several days, I returned to the same spot, hoping an interesting subject would pass through the frame. Just as I was about to leave on the third evening, a man on a bike finally appeared. It caught me by surprise and I took the shot without looking at the camera. When I checked the screen, I realized I had captured something special, a true "decisive moment”, and it has become one of my most famous photos. /Nicolas Miller (@nickmillers ) #Fotografiska #FotografiskaFeatures #Photography #NewYorkCity #NewYork #City

This photo was taken during a blizzard a few years ago, when over 20 inches of snow blanketed the city. I’ve always been drawn to the quiet power of snowstorms in the city. There’s something magical about how the familiar cityscape transforms into something otherworldly, with the usual sounds muted by the thick layer of snow. I titled this image “Red Light District” as a nod to neo-noir films like Taxi Driver that take place in those areas, and as a play on the traffic lights surrounding the character. The red glow of the lights feels like it signals more than just a stop, it’s a pause, a moment for reflection. I shot this scene with a long local focal length, giving the viewer the sense that the person is almost trapped in this circle of lights. /Nicolas Miller (@nickmillers ) #Fotografiska #FotografiskaFeatures #Photography #NewYorkCity #NewYork #City

Hello guys, my name is Nicolas Miller. I am a hobbyist photographer based in New York City, where I've lived for the past seven years. I first picked up a camera shortly after relocating to this vibrant city, and I was instantly captivated by its gritty streets. My photography journey began when I started exploring the city during nightly walks after work, seeking to uncover its hidden gems. I consider my work a part of the neo-noir genre, as I find inspiration in the atmospheric elements of the city, particularly under adverse conditions like snow, rain, and fog, especially at night. It is during these moments that I feel New York truly embodies its Gotham-like essence. /Nicolas Miller (@nickmillers ) #Fotografiska #FotografiskaFeatures #Photography #NewYorkCity #NewYork #City
