Youth pride Kick Off: Queer Prom
I was lucky to be the event lead on this project through my volunteering (I'm the Vice-President) with @victoriapridesociety and @vps_youthcouncil and we put on an event!!
The event included a glam station, bracelet making, art, Photo booths, donut walls, fully stocked mocktail bar, fully catered with a 12 menu options. And most importantly, resources connecting youth to life saving counseling, health support, and overall care. We had drag, spoken word, dance, comedy performances, and dj. It was put on for free so everyone could be welcomed, safe and included.
A huge thanks to a class from COMOX who came down and also helped set up the space and the sponsors in our community for supporting youth to being their best selves to put on the most memorable Prom ever!!
This event saw over $110k in donations to be the success that it was.
We had 170 in attendance!
Spoke this last weekend at the legislature and also got to hear valuable insight, calls to action and encouragement from a diverse group of community members and MLAs. In the rise of uncertainty and those who seek to take human rights away, we gather to celebrate diversity and community and continue to do the work to keep human rights for ALL, not some. 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
