Our family said goodbye to Grandmother Sally on Thursday. She was 93, and passed quietly surrounded by her family and loved ones in the same apartment that she raised three generations of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Even in grief, we feel incredibly blessed. Blessed that she lived life by example and to its fullest, and that her family got so much time with her. How lucky that my children surrounded her in her final moments, and that they saw in her unconditional love in its most pure form? The last photo is of her and @derekblasberg . Being different is never easy. But she made me feel like my modern family was the most important thing in the world. I will miss you, always. But I see your legacy everywhere I look—and it is beautiful.
My Grandparents celebrating their 71st wedding anniversary. In the same apartment where they raised their children, grandchildren and now great-grandchildren. He even picked out the flowers himself. I hope we can all be so lucky to find that same, enduring love ❤️
