Just wrapped my first-ever theatre poster shoot ā a cool little milestone for me.
The concept was all about building a cold, dramatic, cinematic mood. We kept the lighting low-key, with deep shadows and sharp highlights to bring out the emotion in the characters. Used a fog machine to add some texture and atmosphere, and lit everything with a 3-light setup to keep it controlled but expressive.
Shot on my trusty Fujifilm X-T3 with Viltrox lenses ā small setup, but super capable. Surprised how much cinematic mood we were able to get out of it.

All natural light ā no modifiers, no reflectors, no artificial fill.
Just sunlight and the environment doing the work.

Lighting? Just a couple of affordable Neewer lights ā nothing fancy.
But hereās the truth:
Cameras donāt create mood. Light and vision do.
You can own the best rig in the world ā but without a concept, itās just pixels.
And with a clear idea and control of light, even budget gear can look like cinema.
Itās not about what you shoot with ā itās how you see.

No extra lights, no fancy setup. The visuals did all the work, adding movement and texture right onto the modelās skin.
Shot it all on my Fujifilm X-T3 with the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 ā perfect combo for low light and soft focus.
Honestly, the vibe was simple but powerful. Light, smoke, and a bit of patience. Sometimes thatās all you need.

Shot this cinematic portrait session outdoors with my Fujifilm X-T3 + Sigma 30mm f/1.4 ā then brought in the Godox AD200 to cut through the soft evening light and give the frame some punch.
Thereās something magical about mixing ambient and artificial light ā it lets you create your own version of reality.

I was so excited to be a Director of Photography for this film, because that was a real challenge: creating a crowd having only 5 extras, making it look like an award show having a small room as a locationā¦all that funny stuff.
