This summer I packed my gear into a backpack, got on a little boat, went to small island and played a hybrid live set that was a new kind of thing for me. It was a good challenge to figure out how to downsize my live rig and it led me back to my 4-track cassette deck which I hadn’t used in a really long time, and somehow it also led me back to piano. It’s a real simple setup — I’m recording onto cassette and then performing with those cassettes and a drum machine — live mixing with send & return effects and reorganizing the drum machine patterns. I’m really excited about this way of performing live — more shows on the horizon, and more of these tracks will come out soon.
