My beautiful, brave baby sister, Deborah, received her wings peacefully at home yesterday afternoon., welcomed by
Mama, Maxee & Our Ancestors.
Eighteen months ago, Debbie was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Brain Cancer. From the very beginning, she faced her diagnosis with a strength and grace that left all of us in awe. She made a conscious choice to live her life to the fullest with or without cancer and it remains the most inspiring experience of my life.
She was fully aware of her prognosis, but she never let it define her. Instead, she chose to live boldly, with joy, purpose, and unwavering faith. She often said, “Yes, it sucks… but GOD IS SOOOOO GOOD,” and she made us promise to always remember that not the grief or the suffering.
Debbie asked me to thank everyone who prayed, walked with us or donated in the
@headforthecure 5k event and to remind us all to keep going until a cure is found. That was her mission, and it will now be ours too.
I will miss my little warrior sister every day for the rest of my life, as will everyone who loved her. But I will honor her by living with the same fearlessness, fullness, and faith that she carried through every single day.
Thank you to everyone who prayed with us and stood by our family. Thank you to all of her doctors, nurses and caregivers at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit . We will continue to fight in Debbie’s name and for all those facing the unthinkable until we find a cure for the incurable.
Debbie lives on in everyone who loved her.
Please keep her beloved son, Jacob, and precious grandson, Adonis, in your prayers during this time #glioblastoma #Cancer
