Stacey thought she was too young to get breast cancer. But when a colleague at @Morrisons urged her to get a lump checked, it saved her life. ‘I went into hospital for a simple ultrasound and, after a day full of checks, I was told the news everyone dreads. I was totally numb.’ However, after 6 weeks of chemotherapy Stacey’s tumour was removed, and following a course of radiotherapy and immunotherapy, she was cancer-free within the year. Now, she’s passionate about the NHS and Morrisons partnership putting body awareness messaging on shower gel and bath products. ‘I didn’t think I needed to check my breasts. Now, I regularly check. My friends ask me how to know what to look for. But really, you’re not looking for any one thing, you’re getting used to your normal.’ Next time you lather up, take a moment to be body aware. If something seems different, contact your GP. In most cases it won’t be anything serious, but finding cancer early makes it easier to treat and can save lives.

The NHS has hit its target for the number of patients waiting 18-weeks thanks to the biggest improvement in waiting times in 16 years. NHS Chief Executive Officer, Sir Jim Mackey said: “This is a huge moment for the NHS. Hitting our targets for the first time in years hasn’t happened by accident – it’s been down to an absolutely enormous effort from NHS staff up and down the country. “Today’s achievement goes beyond a set of remarkable statistics – it shows that we’re making real inroads on the things that matter to our patients and communities. “That our staff have been able to achieve this in a year that’s seen the busiest NHS winter on record, that’s been interrupted though industrial action and that’s since the biggest shake-up of the NHS in its history makes today’s achievement all the more extraordinary.” 💙

Your next shower might save your life. 💙 We’ve teamed up with @Morrisons to put NHS cancer awareness messaging on their shower gels and bath products – because knowing your body and what’s normal for you could save your life. Next time you lather up, take a moment to be body aware. If you spot anything unusual, contact your GP. In most cases it won’t be anything serious, but finding cancer early makes it easier to treat and can save lives.

A sunbed tan might only last for a few weeks, but the damage can last a lifetime. Sunbeds blast your skin with high levels of UV radiation raising the risk of melanoma and other skin cancers, particularly for young people. This Skin Cancer Awareness Month, help share this message and learn about how to check your skin - search 'NHS skin cancer'.

@clairehindley was 27 when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. It started with symptoms she could have easily ignored but after a couple of weeks, Claire knew something wasn’t right and contacted her GP. After tests and scans, Claire was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She went on to have surgery, chemotherapy and regular follow-up care. ‘I wanted to share my story because knowledge is power. I’ll do anything I can to help share the symptoms of ovarian cancer with as many people as possible. It can happen to anyone.’ Claire has since returned to work as a doctor – and is back doing the things she loves, while using her experience to help more people know the signs. She’s also raised over £4,000 for @targetovarian and her local @BigCCharity after taking on the Hackney Half Marathon during treatment. Whilst ovarian cancer mostly affects women over 50, it can happen to anyone so it’s important to know what to look out for and when to get help. Ovarian cancer symptoms can include: - feeling bloated or swollen tummy - pain/tenderness in tummy or pelvis - feeling full quickly or losing appetite - an urgent need to pee or go more often Know your normal. If something is new, persistent or unusual for you – and you think it might be cancer – contact your GP. Search ‘ovarian cancer NHS’ for more information. #WorldOvarianCancerDay
