GOOD NEWS! Live show pics from 3/27 are out :) In the 20 months I’ve been doing Granite Goodness, I’ve come across two popular and cynical narratives about podcasts 1) That they are a shallow vanity exercise 2) That locally oriented podcasts should see each other as competition These narratives bothered me so much that on Friday night we brought together 6 amazing local pods, 8 great panelists, live music @sneakymiles , and an audience of 112 people at @3sartspace to tell a different story These 8 people arent just blabbing into a mic, they’re using podcasting as a medium to make a difference. Each one of them shared stories of how because their show exists, a substantive and positive change happened in their community or the lives of others. With great gusto and shenanigans, we opened the night by declaring that our competition is not each other, but rather the giant media rage machine devoted to making people more cynical and less trusting of their neighbors.
