Well, what a year 🫶🏾 Had some highlight events and many special moments with friends. Some things went amazing and other things not as expected but all in all it was memorable. 22.08 | Cinema Concerts films 📽️ 🔊 We’re excited to finally announce the @iffr short films headlining this year’s Cinema Concerts in collaboration with @operator.radio and @carharttwip_nld @loradeniz will play a live score on the film Cave Painting (2023) by Siegfried A. Fruhauf: Agglomerating the textures of cave surfaces with the material traces of filmic processes, Cave Painting offers a trippy visual and sonic journey for the senses that evokes an avant-garde, grunge version of the psychedelia in Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Oydssey. Don’t blink, or you’ll miss something good. As always, Fruhauf conjures a new world. @ngoni_ will perform a live soundtrack for Bisagras (2024) by Luis Arnías: Tracing his Afro-Caribbean ancestry, Luis Arnías embarks on a journey from the House of Slaves in Gorée Island, Senegal, to the port of Salvador de Bahia, Brazil, while imagining the perilous journey his enslaved ancestors took to the Americas. Shot in black and white on 16mm film, Bisagras weaves together a rich tapestry of evocative imagery and rhythmic soundscapes, connecting the director to his heritage. Cinema Concerts: Roffa Mon Amour x Operator x Carhartt x IFFR 🔊 🌖 This year, we’re teaming up with @operator.radio , @iffr and @carharttwip_nld for the most musical night of the festival: The Cinema Concerts. The two artists @loradeniz & @ngoni_ will create fresh live scores for short films from IFFR’s archive. The live soundtracks fill the garden, creating a vibrant atmosphere. Each performance is a blend of artistry and energy, making it a memorable evening. Ngoni Egan: With a high tempo attitude, solid electro framework and tenacious bounce to his live set up , Ngoni adroitly takes in a stripped-back yet pumping and melodic approach to his craft, with a minimalesque, synth-rich and drum machine individuality. Loradeniz: Rooted in classical training and experimental sound design, her work seamlessly drifts between deep, house, bass, psychedelic, techno, trance, hypnotic, ambient, acid. We’ve teamed up with CUPRA for On The Pulse to spotlight the thriving talent in Ireland’s electronic music scene. The second entry in this series features Dublin-born, Rotterdam-based artist Ngoni Egan. A bastion of electro in Dublin for many years before relocating abroad, Ngoni has since achieved huge global success, playing at some of the world’s most iconic clubs and festivals, from Tresor and Berghain to the legendary stages of Dekmantel Selectors and Glitch. CUPRA celebrates the second edition of its On The Pulse DJ Competition at Tengu on Friday, May 30th, where six emerging DJs will compete for a €2,500 artist development fund and a coveted set at Beyond The Pale 2025. Rounding out the night, acclaimed DJs Ngoni Egan and Síofra will take to the decks, showcasing their talents for both inspiration and enjoyment. The finalists selected from over 500 entries are Joshua Neville aka STITCH, Bláthnaid O’Toole, Ryan Smyth, Caoimhe O’Donoghue aka Kiva, Paul Jarvis aka Kipunji, and Emmanuel Alonge aka Osaema.
