From a small town in Kerala to the grand steps of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art… While the world watches celebrities own fashion’s biggest night, an Indian brand quietly lays the stage beneath their feet. Neytt by Extraweave, founded in 2021 by Nimisha Srinivas and Sivan Santhosh, has rolled out the Met Gala carpet for the fourth time in 2026. The first time they made it… they didn’t even know it was for the Met Gala. They were simply working on a project, prototyping, developing, sending samples. Only after it was approved did they discover where it would go. Coming from a small town, people around them didn’t know the scale of the Met Gala, only after it made the news did they realise how big it truly was. Today, their creation, hand-painted by artisans and spanning 73,625 square feet, becomes the very stage where the world’s biggest fashion moments unfold. This is India.
