What is Sons of Sparta?
Unlike the 3D over-the-shoulder or fixed-camera epics, this is a 2D action-platformer. It was developed by Mega Cat Studios in collaboration with Santa Monica Studio.
The Setting: It is a canonical prequel set during Kratos and Deimos’ childhood. You play as a young Kratos during his training at the Agoge (the Spartan military academy).
The Story: It explores the bond between the brothers before Deimos was taken by Ares. It was written by the same team behind God of War (2018) and Ragnarök, so expect a heavy emotional focus despite the retro style.
How to Play
Platform: It was shadow-dropped on PS5 for $29.99.
Digital Deluxe: Includes a digital artbook that shows early sketches of young Deimos and Kratos, which have never been seen by the public before this release.
