In a strategic engagement to strengthen trade and investment development in Nigeria, a delegation of the Federal Government is currently participating in the Türkiye Study Tour for Heads of Agencies and Members of the Expanded National MSME Clinics Core Stakeholders Committee.
Led by the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Sen. Hassan Ibrahim, and the MD/CEO of NEXIM, Mr. Abba Bello, the ongoing engagements have provided a strategic platform for discussions and institutional visits focused on manufacturing, trade, investment, quality standards, fashion development, and export opportunities.
The delegation has engaged with the Nigerian Embassy in Türkiye, the Nigerian-Turkish Business Community, the Türkiye Exporters Assembly, the Istanbul Ready-Made Garment Exporters Association (İHKİB), the Turkish Standards Institution (TSE), and the Istanbul Fashion Academy (IMA), gaining valuable insights into global best practices that can further strengthen Nigeria’s MSME and export ecosystem.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive of the Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM), Mr. Abba Bello, paid a business visit to the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, on 22 April 2026 at the CBN Head Office in Abuja, engaging on key priorities for Nigeria’s growth and trade agenda.
Discussions during the meeting focused on expanding trade and export financing, increasing support for SMEs and value-adding sectors, strengthening alignment between development finance and driving jobs, growth, and sustainable FX earnings.

Earlier today, our MD/CE Mr.Abba Bello received a team from the European Union’s mission to Nigeria under the Urban Development Technical Facility.
Discussions during the meeting focused on aligning the EU’s Urban Development Technical Facility (UDTF) aimed at supporting the development of structured framework for urban- focused interventions.
A major highlight of the discussion was the Sealink Project, alongside critical assessments of the Ikorodu and Kirikiri terminals with the aim of integrating these infrastructure assets into a structured urban framework, to pave the way for a more resilient, efficient, and globally competitive trade systems.
This collaboration marks a significant step forward in fostering sustainable urban development and boosting Nigeria’s regional connectivity.

The Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM) earlier today received a high-level delegation from the Islamic Corporation for the Development (ICD), the private sector arm of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group
The visiting team was led by Muhammad Adnan Hasan, Senior Principal Investment Officer at the ICD. They were received at NEXIM Bank's headquarters by Mr. Abba Bello: Managing Director/Chief Executive, Mr. Khalil Gaga: Executive Director, Corporate Services and other Senior Management Staff of NEXIM Bank.
Some of the Key outcomes of the engagement was to establish and finalize modalities for securing non-interest banking loans and lines of credit from the ICD.
The partnership aims to provide de-risked, Shariah-compliant financing specifically designed to support Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the non-oil export sector.
This startegic move aligns with Nigeria's broader economic goal of diversifying towards a private-sector-led economy, utilizing innovative financing tools like Sukuk and non-interest credit lines.
