Three years strong: Nexans Canada wins Sustainability Award again 🙌
From a third consecutive win to a positive exchange between our President & Managing Director, Tim King and Premier of Ontario Doug Ford @fordnationdougford , and even a bold fashion piece made from cable materials: La Soirée was a night to remember.
Hosted by the France Canada Chamber of Commerce Ontario @fccco_on_mb in Toronto, the event brought together leaders across business, government, and diplomacy to celebrate collaboration between Canada and France under the theme “Building Bridges.” As a Grand Sponsor, Nexans took center stage, showcasing how our teams across Canada are driving electrification, innovation, and sustainability every day.
During a leadership panel, Tim King highlighted the essential role our teams play in powering the future:
“At the heart of Nexans is sustainable electrification, and we are leveraging AI as a key growth enabler. We are proud of our deep, long standing Canadian roots, manufacturing cables in towns like Trenton, Fergus and Weyburn.”
The event also showcased creativity and sustainability in action. A standout moment was a fashion piece by Indigenous designer Tisha Thompson and Karen Francis, created using cable and wire materials from our Fergus plant, bringing our commitment to circularity to life in an unexpected and inspiring way.
The evening concluded with a proud milestone: Nexans Canada receiving the Sustainability Award once again, for the third year in a row. This recognition reflects the collective efforts of our teams across the country who are driving innovation, reducing environmental impact, and delivering sustainable value to our customers and communities.
🏆 Congratulations to our team! This award belongs to all of you who make sustainable electrification a reality.

Nexans Canada’s products are “Made in Canada” and integrate over 14% recycled copper and 100% low-carbon aluminum in our conductors.
This makes Nexans one of the most sustainable cable manufacturers on the market; a point reinforced by our localized industrial footprint, where Nexans’ products are Canadian made, and by Nexans’ continuous reduction of CO2 emissions from our 3 plants by 43% between 2019 and 2022.

Powering the future through global electrification. ⚡🌍
At Nexans Canada, we’re proud to be part of a worldwide movement driving smarter, safer, and more sustainable energy solutions. From local communities to global networks, we’re connecting people, powering progress, and building the infrastructure that enables a fully electrified world.
Together, we’re shaping the future of energy.

Canada’s energy landscape is transforming, and our grid must evolve with it. ⚡🇨🇦
📈 Electricity generation has grown steadily, with renewable generation rising even faster. 🚗 Electricity demand in Ontario alone is expected to increase 40% over the next two decades as transport, buildings, and industry electrify. 📊 Inter-provincial transmission capacity is projected to grow 27% by 2035 - requiring more high-capacity lines and modernized cable systems.
Infrastructure built decades ago wasn’t designed for today’s renewable integration, EV adoption, and shifting load profiles.
At Nexans Canada, we’re investing to deliver at scale - manufacturing advanced, higher-capacity cable systems that:
• Support growing demand and peak loads • Enable cleaner energy delivery • Enhance grid resilience and reliability
Modernizing the grid isn’t optional. It’s essential to unlocking Canada’s energy transition and powering growth for decades to come.

Nexans is ⚡️Powered by People⚡️
Samantha Elliott, Health & Safety Supervisor at Nexans Fergus Plant, tells us what she enjoys most about working at Nexans.
"The thing I enjoy most is interacting with Operators and getting to know more about their day to day activities and how their machines run. I strongly believe if you don’t have a basic understanding of how something runs you cannot know how to keep the Operator safe. My favorite part of any work day is getting out into the plant, speaking to people, and getting their input on safety concerns in person."
At Nexans, we are grateful for our people in every department - from the plant floor to the office. Each role is valued and contributes to the success we achieve together. 🙌
