made-to-order event announcement:
STORE DU NORD x Newspeak Studio.
On Saturday 23 May & Sunday 24 May, STORE DU NORD is organising a made-to-order event together with Newspeak Studio.
Newspeak Studio was founded by The Hague-based designer & maker Stef Reijnierse, who graduated from the KABK in The Hague in 2021. He has been running his own label since 2023, and that is also when our collaboration began.
The work of Newspeak Studio is inspired by 19th & 20th century patterns, which Stef has entirely reinterpreted through his own vision. His pursuit of a refined balance between comfort on one hand and robustness on the other leads to a continuously evolving signature with a timeless character.
In the autumn of 2025, I made a special request to Stef:
'Make me a workwear suit with a relaxed yet tailored silhouette.'
That request was ultimately fulfilled, and I was so pleased with the result that I wanted to translate it into an event.
Pick a size. Pick a fabric. Unisex. Size adjustments. Made for you in Den Haag.
DM for details/appointment.

formal cargo trouser.
After a long process of refining and reworking, we’ve arrived at a version that feels right. Generous pockets, including a jetted patch pocket on the left knee, paired with a sculpted silhouette that gives the garment its character.
We explored more exaggerated 3D pockets, added flaps, and experimented with bolder details. In the end, we chose restraint. The goal wasn’t to recreate the typical cargo trouser, but to reinterpret it—retaining its utility while elevating its appearance.
The result is a piece with multiple pockets that still reads as refined. The leg suspension adds another layer, allowing for subtle adjustments in how it’s worn, bringing a sense of movement and playfulness to an otherwise structured form.
The workwear jacket is one of those pieces you reach for without thinking. It becomes part of the daily rhythm. Easy under a heavy coat, just as natural over a light summer shirt. It falls off the body with a quiet ease, the kind you expect from something that stays in rotation.
Grounded in the originals, think the Levi’s Type 1, 2, and 3, it carries the familiar codes: a cropped cut, pockets within reach, a cinch at the back to shape it as you like. But here, it opens up. A lowered armhole, more volume through the body, a softer sense of structure.
Cut in a mohair wool denim, it shifts the feel without losing the function, textured, slightly unexpected, but still rooted in workwear at its core.
