Capacity Building Training Concludes for NEWMAP Staff: Strengthening Team Performance and Project Delivery
The Three-day capacity building training for NEWMAP-EIB project staff has successfully concluded in Abuja, marking a key milestone in the Project’s commitment to staff development and excellence in implementation.
The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Environment, Mahmud Adams Kambari represented by Alhaji Abba Kaza, Special Adviser to the Permanent Secretary, emphasized the importance of teamwork, collaboration, and technical expertise as drivers of project success.
In his remarks, the National Project Coordinator, Engr. Anda Ayuba Yalaks, underscored the need for a smooth, efficient, and collaborative working environment to achieve project objectives.
The training reaffirmed NEWMAP’s dedication to building a stronger, more effective team equipped to deliver high-quality results. Its successful conclusion highlights the critical role of capacity building in enhancing staff skills and knowledge, ultimately strengthening the Project’s overall performance.
Federal Government Launches NEWMAP–EIB Project
The Federal Government has officially launched the European Investment Bank–assisted Nigeria Climate Adaptation, Erosion and Watershed Project (NEWMAP–EIB) in Abuja.
Speaking at the event, the Minister of Environment and Chairman of the NEWMAP–EIB Steering Committee, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, stated that the initiative is designed to build on and expand the achievements of the earlier NEWMAP project. He noted that the project will adopt a Strategic Watershed Management approach to strengthen climate adaptation measures, tackle erosion challenges, and promote sustainable environmental management across the country.
Dignitaries in attendance included, Ambassador of the EU to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Head of the EIB Regional Hub for West Africa and Central Africa, National Assembly, Representatives of Governors of the 23 participating states, Ministers of FRN, Honourable Commissioners of Environment and Climate change, UNOPS, World Bank , Islamic Development Bank, Federal Ministry of Finance, Donor partners, Civil Society Organizations and Non Governmental Organizations.
