Green Man Parade in Burley, New Forest 🌿 Burley is already a magical place but yesterday, the 3rd year in a row, this place in the New Forest became all green! 🌱 After the flag was raised @burleymanor the parade through the village started. It was accompanied by Morris Dancers and Drummers, everyone wearing green and arriving @newforest_cider where the Green Man & the Green Lady received their blessings! 🌳 The most wonderful parade I’ve ever joined and the most beautiful outfits I’ve ever seen! 🍃 The Burley Green Man Festival🍃 . The @NweForestMarque is proud to support the return of the Burley Green Man Festival on Saturday 9 May – a celebration of tradition, folklore, community and the New Forest! A revival of a 170-year-old tradition, the Green Man and his Lady are paraded through the village to Shappen Bottom. The day kicks off at 9am with headdress making and a flag raising at @BurleyManor , followed by a lively procession to @NewForest_Cider with Morris dancers and drummers. Enjoy a 1pm toast from the Baron at the Queen's Head, village-wide dancing, and traditional storytelling to finish. The Green Man and his Green Lady will give their blessings to the Forest to ensure fruitfulness and harmony in the coming year 🌳 It also links beautifully with our Folklore Exhibition at the New Forest Heritage Centre, Lyndhurst running throughout May!
