There are many choices when it comes to gesso. Each have their own advantages. We carry Golden, Liquitex and Chroma. Here we’re highlighting Chroma. Like all of Chroma’s products they are highly pigmented. Coverage, ease of application and texture are important factors. We’ve come to the conclusion that Chroma gesso offers all of this but is also a great value compared to others. The black is so pigment rich that some of our customers have used it as paint. Another product that Newburgh Art Supply offers that’s high quality and hard to find. It’s what we do.

We've been looking to source porcelain palettes for years. It became more of an obsession when the plastic palettes started retailing for close to $50. So now we have a selection of 5 different sizes, the largest with plastic lid is $40. The obvious advantage over plastic is it won't stain. Not as portable but a joy in the studio... and they're simply gorgeous! Ideal with inks and watercolor and especially our new Hydrus liquid watercolors.
