We’re in the penultimate week to see Baroque / Rococo, on view at the gallery until Saturday, 18th April.
Rupesh Pushpa Sudhanshu, whose work features in the exhibition, writes:
“My practice focuses on animals as messengers of human criticism. In addition to the physical, instinctive, and visceral, I also rely on symbolic play and theatrical framing. They remind me that animals have long served as symbols for social order, power, morality, and appetite in art.” He also mentions: “From Snyders to Franz Marc to the post-modern contemporaries, the historical painters I study inspire me to consider how images can convey complexity without devolving into illustration.”
