On May 6th, a small group of staff sat down with members of management and Neumos Co-owner Jason Lajeunesse. We outlined our demands in detail and shared over 20 employee statements about why we need change.
Our bosses agreed to start providing security staff with radio earpieces, flashlights, and security shirts, which the company should have already been paying for. They also committed to an all-staff follow up meeting on June 3rd, and to review staffing practices and employee wages.
Our demands remain the same:
Safe Staffing: Guarantee security staff will not be reduced to unsafe levels at any time.
Fair Pay: increase starting pay for security from minimum wage to $30/hr with raises for those already at higher-than-minimum rates, and provide regular cost of living raises.
Respect Our Rights: comply with all labor laws and respond to any reported issues in a timely manner.
we call on Jason Lajeunesse and the other co-owners to do the right thing and make decisions that align with our community values by meeting our demands in full!
Statement from Northwest Terror Fest in support of Neumos Workers United:

WORKER POWER FUCKING SHREDS!
(Español abajo) More workers are waking up to the truth that no one is coming to save us but us. And when workers recognize that, we also recognize that we build our power to do that through organizing. Workers are more protected and more powerful when we take action together. This May Day, a worker committee from Neumos in Seattle, who have been organizing for the fair treatment and good workplace they deserve, officially launched as Neumos Workers United! Workers are demanding safe staffing levels, fair pay, and that the boss respect their rights at work. Worker power changes everything, and that means taking collective action is not only our right, it is our obligation!
During International Workers Day last Friday, the SGN’s Madison Jones @wuming1997 got to speak with Neumos Workers Stand United @neumosworkers member Ozzy (pronounced Oh-zee) about how the recent organizing efforts have gone so far.

Introducing: Neumos Workers United!
Neumos Workers United is a staff-wide movement of workers from Neumos, Barboza, and The Runaway (Fokus Industries LLC) who are taking collective action to improve our working condition!
We love our cap hill community, and we want to improve it by striving for better treatment of workers at Neumos and beyond!
In March we sent a Letter of Demands to our General Manager signed by over 75% of staff members. We are now in the process of setting a meeting between staff and management/ownership to discuss improving our working conditions.
