GAME closed down the other day. I saw a ton of headlines naming it ‘Britains favourite physical game shop’… Don’t make me laugh.
They took GameStation from you in 2012, it’s shambling corpse cut up into marketable chunks and absorbed into GAME, never to be mentioned again, when you google GameStation, GAME store fronts pop up. The peak of fun physical media for me was enjoyed through coming to GameStation with my long suffering mother every Saturday afternoon, to check if there were any new PS1 games to add to my burgeoning collection. One game was £7.50 or you could get 2 for £10. I dutifully wrote down each title I wished to collect from my dad’s PS1 demo collection, and then hovered behind the new releases while my mum bought the game for me. All my Christmas/birthday money was spent there, I was loyal of course, being 7 and autistic 😎
It was a place for greasy miscreants, for older brothers who had all the Jackass dvds, and a place where, on any given weekday you could see 2 grown men fight to the death on Rumble Roses XXX 🥹
Never forget what they took from you, I will accept no pretenders to the throne of my nostalgia, the legend passed into the shadow realm 14 years ago, the legends name was GameStation 🌸
Dancing with Cats, released in 1999 by New Zealand author Burton Silver and illustrator Heather Busch.
Acting as a sequel to their previous book ‘Why Cats Paint’ released in 1994. Though not as awe inspiring as its art based sibling, Dancing with Cats has a lot of the same charm as the first book. Though, sadly no nice photos of kitties having a wonderful time frolicking in flowery meadows are featured this time around. Fun fact! I hated reading as a kid, I was very good at it, but just didn’t enjoy it. I exclusively enjoyed photography books, especially cat based ones. As a result these kind of books always make me feel warm and vaguely fuzzy, much like the featured felines I’m sure 🌸
Why Cats Paint: A theory of feline aesthetics, released in 1994 by New Zealand author Burton Silver and illustrator Heather Busch.
If you enjoy cats and art this ones 4 u! difficult questions that few others have asked, does a cat paint? will a cat paint? when will a cat paint? this book is meant to be satire, but I love it so much <3 and had to scan and make a post to show it off more 🌸
Ostensibly a coffee table book, something you might flip through in the dentist office, or have a cursory glance at in a book shop. It’s far more enjoyable than it perhaps intended to be, while full of “haha cat doing human things” photos and gushing over-explanation in terms of the art itself. The time and dedication to making the book shows how valued these lil critters were/are to their human family. Also the cats featured are very cute (much like all cats) and seeing a little furry fella in a flowery field, whether he’s painting or not, is always a lovely treat 🌸
i love nails! i cant always have them due to it making me feel a bit claustrophobic but im obsessed 🌸 i especially love very early 00s late 90s looks like these ones i peeped on a charity shop browse recently 💅 very fun, very cool 🌸
i love arcades of every kind 🌸 since first visiting Weston super mare as a kid ive had a thing for them, the sticky light guns, colorful carpets and vaguely grim atmosphere really does it for me. whether it’s on a beach or in someone’s musty basement im a fan 🌸 I have been to so many but never think to take pictures as i get too excited n just forget… so enjoy these ones i could find 😭
