semi inspired by a poem a i wrote a couple of years ago. snakes throughout history have been associated with both healing and danger. this piece is sorta about coming to terms with anxiety and learning to work through it when you can. the way i see anxiety, it's like your body trying to protect you from danger, except when you've struggled through trauma and tough experiences for so long, your body can't tell what's safe and what's a threat, so it overreacts to everything. my anxiety hasn't been so bad over the past year, but there have been long periods where it's greatly impacted my life and i've hardly been able to leave the house. a little bit of anxiety is essential for all of us, but it can so easily take over and consume you. the best we can do is try and grow and view it in a different light, so when it does impact us, we can try and stay grounded 💞

anxiety builds
within your body
slithers through your veins
like a snake
its venom seeping into your thoughts
every possibility a fear come true
a tangled coil of turmoil writhes in the pit of your stomach
breeding ground for snakes
in a frenzy
they rear their heads
and sink in their teeth
crucial to my being
protective but too much
the venom is spreading
my precious pet
the snake
coiled around my body
keep me scared
keep me safe
(ps, this piece is really glittery and shimmery, so i love viewing it from different angles to see how the light hits it)

first painting of 2026 (✿☉｡☉) i started this in October or something and fully intended to finish it by Halloween but here we are in January soooooo ¯\(◉‿◉)/¯
i tried scanning this and as per usual, the colours were too bright and a bunch of detail was lost so i ended up just using my phone's camera. at least i can capture some of the glitter this way (╥﹏╥)

long time no see! this is a painting i made for an art trade with the extremely talented @dari.han_ 💞 i had sooooo much fun painting it!!! she's very shiny and sparkly irl 🥺🌈✨ the little cat is inspired by Darihan's longcat sculptures, which I urge you to check out because omg the JOY in these little guys is immense!!
anyway, hard to believe this is the first painting i've uploaded since moving to japan! enjoy both the slightly cropped version AND the uncropped version (sorry but i couldn't sleep at night knowing a whole 3mm of canvas was cut off 😩)

finally posting this gorgeous phantom of the opera commission for @tiffanymadhatter 🎭 I've loved phantom of the opera since I was 13 years old so i was overjoyed when she came to me with this idea 🥹
definitely the longest time I've ever worked on a piece and the first piece I've ever varnished!! also a nightmare to photograph apparently???? I've been trying to capture it properly for weeks and I've finally given up and resigned myself to the fact that either the colours will look right or there's gonna be shine 😅 first pic shows the details in the upper left hand corner a bit better, while the second pic shows the true colours and glow💕 one day I'll get the hang of photographing oil paintings but it is not this day 😌
