A couple years back I wrote a song called “Dawn” during a time when you were at your early teenage crossroads… asking real questions about life. In those moments, I saw myself. Same reflections. Same spirit.
It reminded me how much of who we are is already within us… carried through our lineage, not just taught.
When me and Baby J put together our latest album Lumpen Proletariat, we dug into the stash and decided to pull this song out to close the album with. It’s raw, stripped down… almost like a live recorded folk song. Just feeling.
Last month when we were both in Atlanta, we had a short window before I had to catch a flight… so we went to a park with the homie Momar on camera and captured something simple…. me writing you a letter, and you reading it.
What you’re seeing here is a work in progress, not the finished product… such is life. Still, the feeling is there.
The journey continues.
